...A NICE DAY TODAY BEFORE RAIN RETURNS...
[6.19.26 7:10 A.M.]
A little late posting this morning as I decided to take a long weekend. Enjoy an extra couple of days off from work.
It's a nice start to the day and we'll see plenty of sunshine today. Pleasant temperatures with highs reaching the md 70's. A good day to mow the grass before the soaking rain arrives late in the weekend.
Skies will be clear tonight with low temperatures falling into the mid 50's.
Sunny skies are expected tomorrow with just a slight chance of showers or a thunderstorm. High temperatures will reach the upper 70's.
Our attention turns to Sunday night into Monday. Models are showing about 1-3" of rain to fall before ending Monday night. There could even be some higher amounts. We'll dive into that as we get closer.
Have a great Friday!

...CALMER BUT BREEZY TODAY...
[6.18.26 6:00 A.M.]
All of the acitivity such as severe weather and heavy rain remained well south of our coverage area. The early evening rain we received yesterday made the storms stay south. Southern Ohio in some areas have seen 3-5" of rain and there has been reports of some possible tornado damage especially in Pike county.
The cold front that was causing these forecast headaches and bad weather to the south will push through this morning. Winds will increase behind the front. We'll see gusts to 35 MPH at times. Temperatures will warm into the upper 70's with partly sunny skies.
We'll see sunny skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 70's tomorrow and Saturday before we see more chances of showers and storms by the end of the weekend.
Have a great Thursday!

...HEAVY RAIN SEEMS TO BE THE MAIN THREAT NOW...
[6.17.26 9:30 P.M.]
Our evening rain has caused our severe weather potential to be questioned. However, what might be a bigger issue rather than the severe weather is heavy rain. We are also in a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall.
Heavy rainfall overnight may produce areas of flooding and/or flash flooding, especially where storms move over repeatedly.
The strong to severe storms over Illinois and Indiana are expected to move east southeast where the atmosphere seems to be more ripe. We are not ruling out the chance for severe weather for our area but the doubts are seriously kicking in.
I know most of you are heading to bed here shortly. Make sure you have a way to stay weather aware. We are not out of the woods but the risk is get lower.
We'll keep you updated as needed.

The severe risk is expected to continue spreading and developing eastward tonight. A few tornadoes, damaging winds, and severe hail are all possible. Areas eastward should keep an eye on storm development as conditions become more favorable for severe thunderstorms.

...UPDATE ON THE SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL FOR TONIGHT...
[6.17.26 6:55 P.M.]
As you already know we are currently getting some showers in our area. This is causing more frustration on forecasting the chances for severe weather tonight.
There still remains the uncertainty with the current showers in the area on how this will influence the overnight severe weather threat. With the ongoing showers it may work the current environment and this would allow for a less severe weather event. What we do know is that there remains a lot of wind energy that is available. Therefore, it wouldn't take much for severe strength winds to occur.
Illinois and parts of Indiana are getting hit pretty good with storms causing tornadoes and these storms are moving at a good clip to the east. The SPC has adjusted their risk for Moderate and Enhanced a little over the last hour. See attached image for more detail. However, we still remain in a Slight Risk for our area.
The timing still remains 8 PM through 5 AM. The main threats would be damaging wind gusts, isolated tornadoes, large hail, and heavy rain that can cause localized flash flooding.
Stay weather aware tonight even though there is some uncertainty. We'll keep you updated on the latest as it becomes available.

...QUIET DURING THE DAY THEN ACTIVE TONIGHT...
***SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT***
[6.17.26 6:05 A.M.]
We are starting the day off pretty calm. It will remain that way through the day with some sun and temperatures warming into the low 80's.
Our attention turns to tonight when showers and storms from the west begin to enter our region. These storms are expected to strong to severe with large hail, damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and heavy rain that will cause localized flooding. They are expected to move through the area after 8 P.M. Timing of this is subject to change depending how quickly they develop.
You will want to stay weather aware tonight. Have a way to get weather alerts. We'll keep you updated as needed on this severe weather potential.
We'll dry out tomorrow and remain dry through Saturday. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70's.
