π¨ SCAM ALERT π¨
The Del Rio Police Department would like to make the public aware of a recent telephone scam affecting members of our community.
Citizens have reported receiving phone calls that appear to originate from the Del Rio Police Department's main telephone number, (830) 774-2711. During these calls, the caller identifies himself as a representative of Homeland Security and references the names of known Del Rio Police Department personnel.
The caller falsely claims that complaints or legal matters have been filed against the recipient and then attempts to obtain money by creating a sense of urgency and concern.
Please be advised that this is a scam.
β’ If you receive a similar call, do not provide any personal or financial information.
β’ Hang up immediately and contact the agency directly using a verified phone number to confirm the legitimacy of the call.
The Del Rio Police Department will never contact individuals by telephone to request monetary payments for unpaid fines, complaints, warrants, or previous arrests.
We encourage all residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
