October was first designated as Down Syndrome Awareness Month in the 1980s and has been recognized every October since. It is a time to celebrate people with Down syndrome and make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments.

What a weekend! After not competing for five months, let me tell you, I was rusty! Still recovering from knee replacement surgery, Black fork bbq competed in the inaugural Border classic cook off here at the Val Verde fair grounds this weekend.
