Exciting things are happening at the Robert β€œBob” Chavira Sportsplex! 🏈🚧

I recently had the opportunity to tour the project with SFDR-CISD Superintendent Dr. Carlos Rios and see the progress firsthand.

I want to assure our community that I will continue monitoring the progress of this project and do everything possible to have the parking lot completed before the Rams football season kicks off. While construction projects can present unexpected challenges, we remain focused on keeping the project moving forward and delivering a quality facility for our students, families, and fans.

This Sportsplex represents a major investment in our youth and our community, and I look forward to seeing it become a place where athletes can compete, grow, and create lasting memories for years to come.

Go Rams! πŸπŸ’™β€οΈ

🚨 IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR LIVESTOCK OWNERS, PET OWNERS, AND RESIDENTS 🚨

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) has identified a New World Screwworm (NWS) infested area in Edwards County. Residents, ranchers, and animal owners are encouraged to stay informed and take precautions to help prevent the spread of this pest.

πŸ—ΊοΈ To see if your property is located within an affected zone, visit the interactive map:
https://tahc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/nearby/index.html?appid=8455917e956b474f995cc3b94d3ef54b&sliderDistance=1

As shown in the attached image, you will notice a turquoise area and a yellow area identified as an "infected area." If you click on the yellow infected area, a column of information will appear on the left side of the screen. This information provides important guidance, animal movement requirements, prevention recommendations, and regulatory information for properties located within a New World Screwworm infested zone.

πŸ„ Important reminders:
βœ”οΈ Regularly inspect livestock, pets, and other animals for wounds or signs of infestation.
βœ”οΈ Promptly treat and cover any wounds.
βœ”οΈ Avoid creating unnecessary wounds whenever possible.
βœ”οΈ Report suspicious wounds or maggots immediately.
βœ”οΈ Follow all movement requirements if transporting animals from an affected area.

If your property is located within a designated infested zone, warm-blooded animals may not be moved outside the zone without prior authorization and inspection from the Texas Animal Health Commission.

Early detection and reporting are critical to protecting livestock, wildlife, pets, and our agricultural community.

For questions, animal movement inspections, or to report suspected cases, contact the TAHC Incident Command Post at πŸ“ž 737-900-7455.

Please help share this information with friends, neighbors, and fellow ranchers.
