Did you know that a simple test done shortly after birth can detect dozens of rare but serious health conditions - often before any symptoms appear?

🧬 Newborn screening is one of the most important steps in giving babies a healthy start in life. It includes a small blood sample (heel stick), as well as hearing and heart screenings. These tests help identify conditions that, if left untreated, could lead to severe health problems or even be life-threatening.

📍Each state has its own newborn screening panel, meaning not all babies are screened for the same conditions - including rare metabolic disorders like Propionic Acidemia. That’s why awareness and advocacy are so important.

For many families in the Propionic Acidemia community, the NICU is where their journey begins — a place filled with uncertainty, strength, love, and hope.

This month, we honor the tiny warriors who fight so hard, the families who stand beside them, and the incredible NICU teams who provide compassionate care during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Every baby has a story. Every family matters. Every moment of hope matters.

Together, we can raise awareness of propionic acidemia, support families, advance research, and work toward a future where every baby has the opportunity to thrive.
