What We Do
Volunteers are placed in national priority areas including: veteran services, food distribution, and elementary school support.

RSVP matches volunteers, 55+, with community support opportunities at municipal, non-profit and healthcare agencies throughout Norfolk County, including elementary school classrooms, food security, veteran support services and friendly visits to seniors. Volunteers receive free accident and supplemental liability insurance, newsletters, invitations to volunteer events, and optional mileage reimbursement for their commute to partner volunteer sites.

Every May since 1963, our nation has celebrated Older Americans Month—a time to honor the generations who built our communities and continue strengthening them every day.

At AmeriCorps, we’re proud to recognize the older adults whose service bridges generations, supports neighbors, and ensures no one is left behind.

Last year, more than 130,000 older Americans served as AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteers, contributing over 29 million hours of reading with children, supporting older adults, strengthening nonprofits, and reducing poverty across the country.

Their wisdom, dedication, and compassion make our communities stronger. This month, and every month, we celebrate them.

Your local Meals on Wheels site needs your help!

Do you have just one hour a week to spare? It may be the most fulfilling hour of your week.

For many older adults in our community, Meals on Wheels is so much more than a hot meal. It is a wellness check, a friendly face at the door, and a simple but powerful reminder that someone cares.

Volunteer drivers are truly making a difference, one delivery at a time.

AmeriCorps Week Appreciation!

Today we celebrate our wonderful VA Ambassadors at the West Roxbury VA and the beautiful, patriotic quilt handmade by RSVP volunteers.

These quilts along with the everyday support provided by our ambassadors, offer warmth and care to veterans receiving services at the medical center.

We are deeply grateful for everyone who helps us uplift those who have served our country.

Happy AmeriCorps Week!

Today we’re highlighting our partnership with Mai Ly Adult Day Health and the meaningful work of RSVP volunteer Mary Jean, shown here leading an ESOL session with Vietnamese speaking seniors.

Mary Jean designed a thoughtful language learning program that brings energy, connection, and confidence to the group. The dedication shown in this classroom is exactly what AmeriCorps Week celebrates — Americans stepping up to serve, teach, and strengthen their communities.

Yesterday was more than a holiday—it was a call to action. While MLK Day encourages a day of service, Dr. King’s legacy reminds us:

"Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'".

Let’s make sure our commitment to our community doesn't end after one day, but continues all year long.

How are you planning to serve this week, month or year? Let’s keep the momentum going!
