Meet Jana, our newest raising instructor at Ore Metals.
A recent graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Jana brings a deep focus in copper forming, with a particular love for raising. Over the past two years, she’s developed her practice working primarily in copper and brass, while continuing to explore silver and jewelry along the way.
In this photo, Jana holds both the starting point and the result: a flat sheet of copper transformed into a raised bowl through patience, precision, and process.
We’re excited to have her join the studio and to share her approach with our community. Sign up for her raising class in the link in profile 🔨⛏️✨

Shape metal through rhythm, repetition, and precision.
In this hands-on workshop at Ore Metals Studio, students will learn the traditional technique of raising transforming a flat sheet of metal into a dimensional vessel using only hammer, stake, and patience. Through a series of controlled hammer blows, you’ll gradually coax the metal upward, building volume and strength without soldering seams.
Raising is both physical and meditative. It sharpens your control, deepens your understanding of metal movement, and opens up new sculptural possibilities in your work.
Perfect for students ready to expand their fabrication skills and explore form in a more intentional way.
