A look inside GSA ☺️ 💛!

This week our learners worked on being mindful of their behavior.

We focused on learning how our actions have consequences and practiced how to Stop -Think-Choose. The children explored ways to stop and choose a better response when they feel upset, frustrated, or unsure.

Through group activities, guided play, and real-life examples, we practiced:

•Taking a break when needed
•Thinking before reacting
• Making safe and kind choices
•Understanding how our choices affect ourselves and others.

Every small step matters, and we love watching them build confidence, communication, and self-control 🤗

This week at Golden Steps Academy, we focused on social-emotional skills and learning healthy ways to manage big feelings. 💙

Our students explored different things they can do when they feel upset, frustrated, or overwhelmed. We practiced communicating when we need help, asking for breaks, and recognizing when we should slow down or stop 🚦 to regain control of our emotions.

We are so proud of our golden scholars for working through big feelings and practicing new ways to calm their bodies and communicate their needs. ☺️ 🌟 💛!

Golden Steps Academy Update 💛

This week, we focused on identifying emotions and feelings!

Our students practiced recognizing emotions and explored situations that create different feelings and what to do in those moments.

We saw great progress with playing with peers and engaging in functional play**, and even more special.. students showing empathy by offering hugs and asking “are you okay?” when a classmate became upset 💙

Our favorite part this week was creating **emotion robots** 🤖💭

So proud of the growth being made each week!

The first week of our spring social skills program was a success! 💙

It was equal parts learning, laughter, & dancing with just a little bit of chaos 😅

We practiced greeting peers, introducing ourselves, transitioning to different activities, and learning how to be around others (which sometimes means sharing… and sometimes means learning how to handle someone who is not sharing 😂).

There were big wins, a few dramatic moments and
lots of real-life learning happening in just 60 minutes.

It may look messy, but it’s all part of the process ☺️

We’re excited to share that Golden Steps Academy will be collaborating with World Service Enterprise Organization for their Grand Autism Awareness Event on April 18th. 💙

WSEO is hosting an exciting autism awareness event full of fun, and GSA will be there leading the Movement Zone. We’re honored to be part of a day that brings families, children, and the community together in celebration, connection, and support.

Come out and have some fun during Autism Awareness Month, move with us, and help us spread awareness in a joyful and meaningful way.
