What a fun event at Brave + Kind Books for our Future Voter Celebration! Before Election Day on November 4th, we gathered to inspire the next generation about kindness, community, and the joy of democracy in action.

Our future voters made “Future Voter” buttons and magnets, added their creativity to our community VOTE art, explored books about kindness and leadership, and enjoyed snacks with neighbors of all ages.

This is what it’s all about—planting seeds of civic engagement early and showing our kids that their voices matter, their community matters, and showing up matters.

Thank you to everyone who came out and to Brave and Kind Books for providing the perfect space to gather! Let’s keep building a Decatur where everyone—big and small—feels seen, heard, and valued. 🩷

These good boys and girls are ready for a leader who listens, cares, and shows up for our community. Deanna is not just a listener; she proactively seeks out the voices of our village to amplify them. In her service on the City of Decatur Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, she is constantly collecting data from the community to bring to the table, to make sure all our neighbors’ voices and opinions are factored into every decision made. More than just a resume that shows compassion, Deanna is an individual who forms bonds and empowers others. Personally, she is literally the reason I was able to take on my roles with our schools, and you’ll find numerous neighbors who exuberantly follow her lead into service. Her energy level and grit are truly unmatched – she is a force. And I can’t wait to see that force brought to the Decatur City Commission.
