Captain Paolo Benini is already at the shipyard, watching MSC World Asia come to life day by day. Born in Liguria, inspired by a grandfather who worked in the Genoa shipyards and a father who was also a captain, his connection to the sea is a story shaped by family, heritage and a lifelong passion.

Now, for the first time in his career, he has been appointed Captain of an MSC Cruises newbuild. He was on board during the sea trials. He knows every deck, every system, every detail of a ship he is preparing to command. And when MSC World Asia sets sail from Barcelona on 4 December 2026, Captain Benini will be at the helm, leading his crew and welcoming the very first guests on board. The countdown has begun.
