Dear Lord, We are coming to you for divine intervention. With so many things going on, we recognize our great need for you. We humble ourselves before you and ask you to do what only you can do. We have Hurricane Irma coming, and we are asking that you please divert this storm so that it does not make landfall. We know only you can calm the rains, the waves and the winds. Please allow this storm, and those to follow, to be downgraded and allow them to pass by without any loss of life or damage. May all that are anxious, fearful or worried, sense your presence with them and be filled with your peace. Please keep my family, and all of our families and friends, safe! We continue to pray for all the victims of Hurricane Harvey, and Irma that they will find their strength in you and will get through this devastating time. I also ask that you please keep all first responders and volunteers safe, that all needed supplies will be in surplus and needs will be met. Thank you dear Lord for hearing our prayers. We give you all the praise, the glory, and the honor for who you are and all you do. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen!
I am asking all to say this prayer and type "Amen" in the comments then .... copy and paste it!!! Amen and God bless everyone!!!🙏🏼

This is part of a very long and heartfelt post a former Parent of REACH Enrichment Center shared. I am sharing it because OUR children are watching us and our response to this election. He may be a bigot, racist and a whole lot of other things.... BUT, we are Parents, Aunts and Uncles... and we have to use this outcome as an opportunity to TEACH our children some very important life lessons. Here's part of what Rivkah Magnus Eidex shared. (I hope she doesn't mind me sharing.. this is powerful and impactful!)

"What do I say to my children today?" A question I saw posted today numerous times.
Maybe, for starters....
1. a factual lesson quite simply on majority rules (and sometimes you will not like the outcome. important life lesson right there).
2. model how to handle disappointment (and even anger) with poise and self-dignity.
3. Trump has policies with which you disagree? Then get active on those issues. Show your child how to voice your opinion in a democracy, and be thankful for the right to do so.
4. Explain to your child that people who voted Trump into office must have their own personal reasons and even though we don't know what they are, we have no choice right now but to accept (and dare I say respect) that reality. This is known in the psychology world as "Radical Acceptance," and the notion that you can accept a reality even if you hate reality (incidentally, this concept is what enables me to get out of bed every day).
5. Children are very literal. Telling them that their school-mates are likely to be rounded up by armed guards or officers and shipped back to war-torn third world countries borders on emotional abuse of a child in my opinion. That type of rhetoric is the type that leads to panic (and panic can lead to dangerous and destructive behaviors in a nation).
Your job is to reassure your child that there are a lot of government leaders who collaborate with the President and nothing is going to happen tomorrow or even the next day (does anything involving the government happen quickly?). You are safe and your friends are safe. Teach the child to take a deep breath and perhaps encourage them to share this concept with their friends and school-mates.
6. And lastly, many Americans - adult and child - are under the misconception that the President makes the decisions, rules and runs this great country. Ha ha my friends. We are One Nation Under ______(what was it again?).
It is He *only* who decides things and cares for us and G-d alone who knows what is in the hearts of us all AND who loves and accepts us unconditionally regardless of how we voted or what our gender, sexual preference, nationality, etc.
Furthermore, G-d is the only One who has the right to judge us, so let's leave that to Him. In the mean time, let's try to model faith-based living so that our children understand that when things don't go your way - and even if you are overcome with fear - sometimes you just have to trust in the L-rd (however you may define Him) and know that He is really the One in charge. And with that, we've got a winning ballot every time.

Thought I'd share...

What's Next?

I am a parent of a child with special needs.

Late at night as I write the list of things to be done, the bills, our home, the car, work...
I stop and look at the list for you my child, so many things have now been crossed off.

What is next when all doctors have been seen?

What is next when there are no new therapies to try or they are out of my financial reach?

What is next when the diets fail?

What is next when there are no answers?

So under your name my love, I write these things:

Join you in your world and see life from your perspective. ♡

Hold you close to my heart when you are scared. ♡

Walk proudly by your side anywhere life should take us. ♡

Support your interests and continue to expose you to new and different things. ♡

Take you with me on trips, no matter how difficult…so that you can see the sun rise and set
at the sea,
the mountains
and green wind-swept fields…in this beautiful world we live in. ♡

Take your hand in mine and kiss it with tenderness. ♡

Look straight into your eyes when you least expect it and tell you how great you are
or whisper in your ear when you least expect it and tell you how much I love you. ♡

I will relax in the face of the deficiencies that life has thrown our way and keep believing that wonderful people will come into our life to make our journey sweeter. ♡

Attempt to make you smile (or at least smile in your eyes) at least 5x a day or more, with some stupid crazy trick I can come up with or provide you with something you enjoy the most. ♡

Never stop believing, hoping even when it feels the darkest. ♡

Keep an open mind and read about anything that I can do to help you. ♡

I promise to always be your lighthouse of love. ♡

This is your list, my child.

I love you.

Mom
