How do we explore the unknown? Our 6th graders recently tackled this question through their latest Statement of Inquiry: Innovation, modeling, and evidence help us explore if we are alone in our ever-changing universe.

After researching the unique characteristics of our neighboring planets, students stepped into the role of space-age travel agents. Their mission: market a planet of their choice as the ultimate vacation destination for Earthlings.

Students are demonstrating impressive creativity and scientific understanding through a variety of formats, including:

🚀Detailed travel brochures

🚀3D planetary models

🚀Digital advertisements and books

To celebrate their hard work, students will showcase their work in a cross-team gallery walk this week. This interactive session will allow students to showcase their projects, learn from their peers, and practice giving professional, constructive feedback. What an awesome way to round out the end of 6th grade- Kudos to the 6th-grade scientists and the teachers who supported and planned this end-of-year activity!

Engineering the Future: 7th Grade Math Sphero Challenge

Our 7th-grade mathematicians are concluding the year by shifting to a tech-driven engineering project where math comes alive! In an exciting, high-engagement final project, students are working in teams to design, build, and conquer complex obstacle courses.

This real-world mission requires students to "train" their Sphero robots using block coding in the app. The goal is a perfect run: navigating their robotic "buddies" through custom-built cardboard and duct-tape courses completely unscathed. By blending spatial reasoning with precise programming, our Bulldogs are proving that math is truly a tool for innovation.

8th Grade Dance Recap! 💃✨

Our 8th graders took over the dance floor last week for an unforgettable night of music, dinner, and celebration! It was the perfect way to honor the hard work and dedication this class has shown all year long.

🪩Highlights of the Night:
Community Connection: Students enjoyed a formal dinner while reflecting on their favorite middle school memories.

🪩Bulldog Spirit: The energy was electric, reminding us all why BHMS is such a special place to learn and grow.

🪩A Well-Deserved Break: After a busy season of testing and projects, it was a joy to see our students simply celebrating their success together.

A special thank you to Shani Vickery for organizing the event and to all the 8th-grade teachers and volunteer parents who helped!

🌿 AQ Students Join the Atlanta City Nature Challenge 2026!

On Monday, April 27, a group of 45 sixth and seventh grade Adventure Quest students proudly represented Beacon Hill Middle School during the Atlanta City Nature Challenge 2026 in partnership with Wylde Center.

Students spent the day exploring local green spaces, observing wildlife, and documenting plants, insects, and other living organisms using community science tools. Through their teamwork and curiosity, our students contributed over 300 observations to this worldwide event—helping scientists and communities better understand and appreciate urban biodiversity.

This experience was an exciting opportunity for students to apply what they have been learning in class about environmental stewardship, observation skills, and the importance of connecting with nature. It was inspiring to watch students enthusiastically search for species, ask thoughtful questions, and realize that science can happen anywhere—even in the middle of a city.

We are incredibly grateful to Wylde Center, Fernbank Museum, and all event organizers for providing such a meaningful hands-on learning experience for our students.

We are proud of the way Beacon Hill students represented our school with energy, curiosity, and respect for the natural world! 🌎📸 Fernbank Museum
