Cartwheels Camps with Ms. Mary

Reminds me of Mr. Red’s store on the corner by Lakewood Heights Baptist Church. We’d stop there on the way to Vacation Bible School and buy penny candy.

"I had been on assignment at a Detroit Montessori school for two days, and shot hundreds of photos. Some were very good, but I knew I hadn't gotten THE shot. That afternoon, as we all sat on the floor in a circle listening to a story, I bowed my head. When I raised my head, this little girl leaned over to lay her head on the little boy's lap. 52 years ago today, June 6, 1971, the final Ed Sullivan Show aired. It originally ran on CBS from Sunday June 20, 1948 to Sunday June 6, 1971, and was hosted by New York entertainment columnist Ed Sullivan. In 2002, The Ed Sullivan Show was ranked #15 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.

An old man made from driftwood!!

It's the kind things you do when you think no one is watching. Today, as football workouts were coming to and end, an elderly lady accompanied by her young grandchildren walked by. They were carrying grocery bags fill with goods, but the bags were heavy. At a distance, the bags looked to be too heavy for the elderly lady and extremely heavy for the small children accompanying her. Several times they stopped to make adjustments.

My intent was to walk over to the elderly lady to see where she lived so I could give her a ride. But before I could get to her, several of the St. Augustine High football players, exhausted from workouts walked over, held a brief conversation with her and took possession of the bags she and the small kids were carrying. Needless to say, 5 blocks later she and the kids were safely home with their goods.
