The Praise House Project is a community-based initiative which places multimedia, site specific public art installations within communities in order to uphold the African American histories of the area.

JUNE 19: REMEMBERING FREEDOM -RECALLING THE PRAISE HOUSE AS A DRUM, the celebrates at

Anchored by a drum and dance procession by and an evening performance by vocalist , the day begins with a historic tour at 4 PM and ends with an illumination of the Praise House.

The celebration will honor the African American history of our city and the over 80,000 ancestors who rest at South-View Cemetery.

SCHEDULE:

💥 4PM - Historic Tour of South-View
💥 6PM - Drum and Dance Procession by Giwayen Mata at the Praise House, 2017 Jonesboro Rd SE
💥 7PM - Illumination of the Praise House
💥 8PM - Porch Performance by jazz vocalist, Julie Dexter at the New Freedom studio, 1884 Jonesboro Rd. SE.
💥 9PM - Open mic

All walking distance from South-View.

PARKING - on the street or at the Ali Center at Lakewood.

FOOD: For purchase on site.

ADA ACCESS: There are three stairs onto the porch. All guests and volunteers are available to assist.

Happy in Atlanta from where my Buba and I are working with Winnie Hemphill and the team to uplift the office before our upcoming 140th anniversary. We are also acknowledhing this day as the anniversary of assisination of - JOIN US ON APRIL 19th for our Family Reunion dinner at 3pm! Rsvp in comments!

We are returning to our SUNDAY SERVICE series with our dear Sister, Mental Health practitioner and Yoruba priestess, Yeye SanjoPeju. We are calling on the ancestors to help with our mental health, and we are acknowledging the need for grief and community stewardship in prayer.
Thank you for this timely offering Yeye. We love and appreciate you. We honored to hold this space.
