Jazz Night Tonight - RAIN OR SHINE - Bonaventure Quartet in front of the Solarium from 7-9.

Oakhurst Jazz Nights Hundreds of jazz lovers will be headed to Oakhurst and picnicking at sunset again in September to enjoy some of the best jazz artists in the southeast. The Oakhurst Neighborhood Association announces another great season of free outdoor jazz concerts this spring, beginning Thursday, April 6, 2017.

Meetings planed to discuss Decatur Housing Authority property on Oakview The Decatur Housing Authority plans to redevelop the 34 apartments it owns on Oakview Road and is asking the public for its input.

Oakhurst Jazz Nights will be moving INSIDE the Solarium tonight because of the wind and cold. Also, Joe Gransden and his band will be replacing Diane Durrett because flights to the ATL were cancelled (she was at the Grammy on the Hill event last night).

Joe Gransden played with the big bands of Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller right out of high school. He has gone on to play with Barry White, The Moody Blues, Kenny Rogers, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, The Whispers, and so many more from New York to the ATL! Joe is a local who lights up stages weekly in the area.

Oakhurst Jazz Nights are FREE concerts every Thursday in April from 7-9pm at the Solarium, 321 W. Hill Street.

Hello Neighbors - I realize a number of folks that live in Oakhurst attend Winnona Park so we wanted to make sure you were aware of the WPNA Luminaira Holiday Event set for tomorrow.

Luminairy sales will start at 12pm followed by the holiday event featuring music, food and fun from 2-5pm behind WPES. The Cocoa Crawl starts at 5:15 pm.

Another great community event coming up Wednesday, December 14 for music lovers - a concert to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Frank Hamilton School at its home at Oakhurst Baptist Church. Enjoy great music and support the School and its commitment to expand its reach and provide music education for all ages.

Hope to see folks at the Oakhurst lantern parade and tree lighting this Sunday Dec 11th. Festivities start at 5pm at the Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool (830 W College) for lantern making. At 6pm, the parade will head down Mead St. to Harmony Park to gather with neighbors for the Community Choir's choral concert and lighting of the gorgeous tree provided by historic Scout Troop 107. Hot drinks will be provided by Kavarna, and jingle bracelets and ornaments provided by ONA. This is a great community effort and fun time to get into the holiday spirit.

The next Oakhurst Neighborhood Association meeting is Monday, 11/14 at 7pm in the Solarium. We welcome all Oakhurst neighbors. This is our last meeting of the year so we will be voting on the ONA board for 2017. In addition to police and commissioner updates, fire safety tips, we're also leaving room on the agenda for open discussion about events, activities and programs you'd like ONA be involved in next year. Please join us with your ideas and interest.

While it feels early, the holidays are fast approaching. Please support a neighbor in need through the annual Season of Giving/Christmas Decatur Project.
