When I was a little kid around 8 or so...I used to sit on the roof of our barn out in the country to watch the whirling lights on the rides at the Mt Auburn Picnic and listen to the music coming off those rides as they made the town kids scream, yip, yap, giggle, then maybe even puke a little. Yep, there were exciting and magical times to be had back then...I would have sworn it was the worlds fair.

Dr. Doyle Slifer Died Friday on the same day and same age as Tony Bennett. Both 96. Two of the classiest men I've ever known. Doc lived a most accomplished, beautiful and compassionate life. Not too bad for a poor fatherless kid from Beecher City. Great man, friend, and treasured hero of mine. Claim victory and depart the field old friend, You'll be missed by us all.
