I can't wait to show off the windows that arrived today! They are SO SICK!

You can find me regularly shuffling through building supply stores grabbing material my crews need to complete certain portions of whatever home I happen to be building at the moment. I was in Lowes this morning when a former client caught my attention. We reminisced briefly about the fact that it was eleven (!) years ago that he and his wife moved into the new home I built for them in Briar Crossing. Wow, times flies!

I asked him how the house and his family were doing. That's when he told me a story. He said he was walking through his living room early one morning about a year after their move-in. They had already put a pool in, and he was looking through the living room windows out on their patio and pool. He was marveling in pride at all of it...about how all of it was his. Then, he said it hit him as if he could hear the words from God's own mouth. It wasn't his. It was a gift, one that he was expected to share with others. From that point on, he said they've hosted family, friends, church members and others time and time again from their home, using it as a vehicle for fellowship to celebrate special moments, to share joyous occasions and to grow closer to one another. Speaking on behalf of myself and other area homebuilders, I can honestly say that nothing makes us happier to hear about the moments families and friends share in the homes we so painstakingly build on their behalf.

His anecdote absolutely made my day. It also took me back to Camino lessons I learned. Nothing in this life is "ours". We don't "earn" what we have because God favors us over our neighbor. We are here but a short time, and the things we "possess" are actually just loaned and entrusted to us to help those around us. I was so thankful for the reminder this chance encounter left with me and felt compelled to share it. :)

It's exciting and humbling to see one of my designs coming together. I'm so thankful for the clients who trust me to make it happen for them. 🪚🔨

I spend a lot of time working with my clients to identify the perfect location on their land on which to build their new home, shop, guest house, etc. We look at topography in order to minimize excavation and/or retaining wall construction expenses, existing trees in order to save and highlight them, existing (and future) surface water drainage, sunset/rise direction, future views, and a variety of other factors to locate the best place possible. I draw it out and then stake it out so we can walk it together. And finally, once we're in agreement, we get to work!

Details matter in a custom home, and I love that this customer had us install a custom chimney cap to hide the spark arrester on their new build. We painted it with a special high temp matte black paint, and it looks outstanding. I can't wait to share some of their other details!

Couldn't ask for a better day for a new foundation concrete pour!

So thankful to get to design and help with this addition/remodel of this house in the Indian Trails addition. I would have to say that it resulted in a dramatic improvement in curb appeal for what is already a beautiful neighborhood! 😁
