GeneThink Survey 04/21/2015

Are you living with a genetic disease or the family member of someone living with a genetic disease? If so, we are interested in asking you a few questions through a brief SurveyMonkey survey.

Emory Genetics, Davalen, Inc., and the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) are developing a webpage/application called GeneThink that uses the power of IBM’s Watson supercomputer to do a better job of answering questions about genetic conditions than Google. In order to make this website useful, we're asking you to tell us about your questions related to genetics disease. All individuals who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 Amazon gift card. If you are interested in doing this survey, please click on the SurveyMonkey link below and complete the questions. Feel free to share with friends living with a genetic condition.

In Memoriam:Dr. Paul M. Fernhoff 12/29/2011

We are so behind on updates, but here is the biggest piece of news. As many of you know, on September 19, 2011, we lost our fearless leader Dr. Paul Fernhoff suddenly and unexpectedly. It was unbelievable to go from the happy afterglow of the Duck race with Dr. Fernhoff's winning duck victory dance to the news of his sudden death. He is sorely missed and daily mourned. Dr. Fernhoff's son has created a wonderful web memorial for sharing at http://www.rememberpaulfernhoff.com/ . Visit here to laugh, cry, share, and remember. Plans (and fundraising) is underway to honor Dr. Fernhoff through naming a hospice room at the Atlanta hospice center AND create a endowment fund at Emory to honor him. If you are interested in donating to either initiative, please email Dawn at [email protected] for more information.

To allevate any worries, the Emory L*DC still is still here and working hard as a care center and resource for patients with L*Ds. We have a wonderful team of experienced physicans, genetic counselors, nurses, and psychologists here to carry on Dr. Fernhoff's legacy. Come meet up with us all at Maggianos on Sunday January 29th from 1-4pm to learn more and have your questions answered.
