You’re their voice.

If you work with children as a teacher, nurse, counselor, coach, etc. you’re legally required to report suspected abuse or neglect.

🧠 You don’t need proof, just reasonable concern.

📞If you suspect abuse or neglect, call DHR and/or law enforcement. Please don't do your own investigation before calling them.

💗One report can start the process of safety and healing.

When you speak up, you protect a child.

Can your child name 5 trusted adults they can turn to if they ever feel unsafe, scared, or uncomfortable? One of the most important body safety skills children can learn is identifying trusted adults they know they can talk to. These should be safe adults who will listen, believe them, and take action to help.

Encourage your child to think of 5 trusted adults, both at home and at school, and remind them:
💙 If the first person can't help, keep telling another trusted adult until someone does.
💙 They will never be in trouble for speaking up about something that doesn't feel right.
💙 Their voice matters, and they deserve to feel safe.

Grounding techniques can be an effective way to regulate our nervous systems and reconnect with the present. The therapists at the Morgan County CAC use this grounding technique with the children and families that they serve! Try this technique the next time you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed!

Every child deserves help and healing.

For more than 20 years, the Morgan County CAC has provided free forensic interviews, trauma-focused therapy, and victim advocacy for children and families impacted by abuse.

This year, we expanded our services by opening our new on-site forensic medical exam room, bringing compassionate, trauma-informed medical care to Morgan County so children can receive these critical services close to home.

We're honored to participate in the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville's Video Grant Challenge to highlight our services. Watch our 60-second video to see how we are impacting children and families in Morgan County.

We're grateful to the funders, partners, and donors who helped make this expansion possible!

As the new school year begins, it's the perfect time to have age-appropriate conversations about body safety. Body safety conversations don't have to be scary, they can empower children with confidence, boundaries, and the knowledge to speak up when something doesn't feel right.

This back-to-school season, the Morgan County CAC wants to help every child feel safe, respected, and heard!
