TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: Meet our Teaching Assistant, Hannah Lyons!

My name is Hannah Lyons, and my love for teaching began when I volunteered as a counselor at a summer camp for children with special needs. I later continued this path by serving at a Bible camp for Methodist children. Last year, I joined FUMCPreschool as an assistant in the 2-year-old classroom. It was a wonderful experience where I built meaningful connections with the children and their families. I also had the opportunity to learn so much from my fellow teachers, whose support and expertise were invaluable. I'm excited to be back and looking forward to another great school year!

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: Debra Walker is our Assistant/Rover!

My name is Debra Walker. I have taught the 2's class at FUMCPreschool for two years, and last year I served as a substitute teacher. I am a lifelong resident of Decatur and have been a member of FUMC for many, many years. The preschool is a wonderful ministry of the church and provides a safe environment for children to experience Christian love and learning.

My name is Penny Holt. I was a volunteer at FUMCP for many years before I was asked to join the staff. As a pre-K teacher, I strive to share my love for God by nurturing our precious children to grow in their faith in our Christian environment. I enjoy being a part of providing "hands-on" learning experiences in all areas of the curriculum including language arts, math, science, music, and scripture. I chose to teach at FUMCP because I believe I can help "make a difference" in a child's preschool experience!

Hi! My name is Kylee Thacker, and I am so excited to teach the 2's this year at FUMCP. I chose to work at our preschool because it is a true joy and blessing to teach our students. I am a mom of 2 boys ages 1 & 4. I am a Texas native with eight years of early childhood education experience. In my free time I enjoy working out, watching hockey, shopping, doing projects, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with my family and friends.
