Who likes sweet surprises? 🙋🏽‍♀️

For this surprise birthday celebration, our client wanted to celebrate her husband’s heritage and desire to visit Ireland, so we thought we’d bring Ireland to him.

Our client wanted a simple silhouette, so we made our take on a tall sheet cake. For the design, we used a watercolor poster of the Irish flag as inspiration for the top of the cake. Then added the personalized inscription in gold. We let the green watercolor seep into the edible painting of the famous Cliffs of Moher. And finished the cake with a multi-colored ‘70’ for 🇩🇪 . ➡️ to see more pics and a slice of the cake. Happy birthday Richard!

Flashback to 2015, I sculpted a DoubleStuf Oreo for my brother birthday, I loved the cake at the time. (Side note: I just realized Stuf only had 1 ‘f’ who knew 🤷🏽‍♀️). But looking back, I think I rushed the decorating and I realized I didn’t capture all the details. Plus I made it out of ganache (which it’s own challenge)😬.

Fast forward 9 years after decorating tons of cake, investing in classes and honing my craft, I wanted to give it another shot. And I think it turned out well. Here’s a slice of the yummy cake. That thang is clean 😁 ➡️ to see the most recent cake and the 1st attempt.

When the memories you share with your family and friends are important, you want to display them front and center. Knowing this about the birthday celebrant, the client wanted to honor those memories and relationships and wanted to incorporate photos in the design for the surprise 60th birthday.

I’m not gonna lie, I usually don’t like edible photos on a cake. It can be challenging to include a collage of pictures in an elegant way. So we made them black and white to have a simple color palette. We made this one a while back, but I still love the way it turned out. And more importantly the client and birthday celebrant ❤️ the cake too.

I like big bows and I cannot lie. 😂 it’s the remix

I’ve been wanting to work on a project where I could incorporate an edible crepe bow. And recently I got the opportunity for birthday.

Rev. Jean wanted to share her trip around the sun and her birthday joy by celebrating with family, friends, and members of . She asked us to create a cake that was simple and flat (single-tiered). So we used an understated color palette of purples and white with a fault line and a luxurious gold border on a square silhouette. We’re so happy to be a part of this moment. Happy birthday Rev. Jean!
