Midway Woods Association – MARCH MADNESS street sign cleanup

Have you noticed the street signs on Midway Road? The Midway Woods Association Board members have accomplished Phase 1 of a neighborhood Environmental and Safety project. All streets signs on Midway Road have been cleaned and look amazing! This only took 2 people and 5 hours total spread over 2 days (see photos below for before and after views).

Phase 2
The Midway Woods Association is now seeking volunteers to participate in a street sign cleanup project that will take place throughout the month of March. If you are interested in participating, please respond on NextDoor or Facebook so that we can contact you with more details. Please provide the street name you live on.

Our Goal is to improve the safety and beauty of our neighborhood roads by cleaning all road signs in Midway Woods. This includes cleaning the front and back side of: Street name signs, Stop signs, Speed limit signs, Watch Signs, Marta Signs, Yield signs, etc.

Logistics: we have provided a map of the Midway Woods neighborhood according to the app Nextdoor. On this map, we have identified 5 zones (see attached map) to split up the workload and help people make new friends within 1-3 streets from their home.
Zone 1 – Deerwood [Deerwood Dr/Creekwood Terrace]
Zone 2 – Oldfield South [Fenway Cir, Charles Gate, Catherine]
Zone 3 – McKinnon [McKinnon Dr, N. Oldfield, Oldfield Way, E McKinnon]
Zone 4 – North East CTCM [Conway, Thomas, Carter, Monticello Pl]
Zone 5 – South East CTCRD [Conway, Thomas, Carter, Rupert, Dorothy]

Supplies: No money is required. Just a few hours of your time and we recommend you bring a step ladder, rags, a sponge brush/mop, a bucket/cooler with rinsing water and a mold/mildew cleaning product like Zep.

Timeframe: Our goal is to complete the project by the end of March.

Jennifer Beaver (President)
Chris DePree (Vice President)
Jody Whitlow (Treasurer)

MWA Meeting Rescheduled for Thursday, March 8!!

The Midway Woods Association board invites all Midway Woods neighbors to join us for a meeting to talk about rebuilding our Neighborhood Watch on Thursday, March 8 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. (feel free to come late if you can't make it right at 6:00).

We're hoping for a good turnout so we can talk about getting a neighborhood watch effort organized in an effort to try and address some of the safety issues in our neighborhood. If you have any ideas about how our neighborhood watch can be most effective, please come prepared to share them (if you want to get involved but just want to listen, that's fine too).

If you can't make the meeting but are interested in Neighborhood Watch, please feel free to comment on this post with ideas. Thanks!

Midway Woods Association membership meeting: Thursday, January 25 at Blue Tarp
When: Thursday, January 25, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Where: Blue Tarp Brewery (731 E. College Ave.)

All Midway Woods neighbors are invited to the Midway Woods Association's next membership meeting! Come meet neighbors, drink locally brewed beer, and learn about ways you can get involved with MWA committees to help improve our neighborhood.

The MWA has five committees: Community Engagement, Environmental/Infrastructure, Public Safety/Neighborhood Watch, Communications, and Fundraising. One of the MWA board's top priorities right now is recruiting neighbors for participation in these committees so we can get some projects going in these areas. The main purpose of this meeting will be to provide a forum for people who are interested in volunteering for these types of projects to meet and share their ideas about what can be done.

You don't have to be an Association member to attend, but if you'd like to join you can do so at the meeting or anytime online: www.midwaywoodsassociation.org/membership/

Please let me know if you have any questions! We hope to see as many of you as possible on January 25th!
