Flashback Friday: Vintage Home Trends We're Crushing On 🏡

Conversation pits, breeze block walls, built-in planters, glass block, travertine tile—the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s gave us some seriously cool design elements. And honestly? Some of them never went out of style.

Swipe through to see some of our favorite retro trends that are still showing up in in-town Atlanta homes (and honestly, we wouldn't mind seeing more of).

Here's our question for you:
Which of these vintage trends do you still love? Would you incorporate any of these into your home, or have you already? And what old design elements are you missing—what trends from the past do you wish we'd bring back?

📞 If you're looking to renovate your in-town Atlanta home with a nod to the past (or just want to chat design), reach out anytime – we’d be thrilled to share contact information of some of our favorite in-town designers, contractors and subcontractors.

523 McKoy St. – a crown jewel of a home (and yard) in Oakhurst has sold.

We were honored to help these clients (who are also friends) move onto their next chapter.

The new owners are going to love the incredible Oakhurst location and the stunning design by Eric Rawlings of Rawlings Design and build by Arlene Dean … and of course, the epic yard made for entertaining.

Thank you to co-op agent Pat Peyer (.peyer) and the Fryer Law Firm () as always for a smooth closing.

Even in this warming market, there’s no substitute for working with a deeply experienced agent otherwise, you risk your home sitting on the market and/or losing thousands or hundreds of thousands in seller equity.

Ready to make a move? Let’s talk. 📞 Chad: 404-944-6577 | Christina: 404-932-7388

One of our clients now owns a very cool piece of mid-century history!

513 Drexel — Our client fell in love with this iconic Lustron home, and we helped make it happen. Big thanks to lender Ann Falconer with Shelter Mortgage (Ann Falconer) and to McCurdy Candler for a smooth closing!

Interested in buying or selling in Decatur or nearby surrounding areas? We'd be honored to help. We love this work!

🏡 709 Park Lane (Decatur): Our downsizing clients won this home in a multiple-offer scenario! It was an honor to help them navigate this next chapter.

Spotlight on BUYERS!

We post a lot about available and sold homes, but of course we love buyers, too! In the next few days, we’ll be sharing some of our recent “matchmaking” wins (house hunters with homes). 🏠

It’s worth mentioning that thanks to our extensive network, we often are able to get our clients access to ideal homes before those homes even officially hit the market. 🫰Another reason why hiring an experienced Realtor® makes all the difference.

Ready to make a move? Whether you're buying or selling, we’d be honored to bring our 33 years of combined experience and more than 700 career transactions to YOUR transaction.

And if you haven't already, check out our City of Decatur Buyer's Guide (pinned content).

Celebrated our anniversary in San Juan, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, and it did not disappoint — salsa dancing on the beach and at La Factoria, dinner at the beautiful Fairmont, finding new favorite spots (El Mas Alla), and long lazy days on the beach. 🏝️💃☀️

Even attempted to convert Chad to the beet side 🫜 … let’s just say the “creamy, lemony” beet soup wasn’t the magic bullet 😂.

So grateful for the memories (and the partner to make them with). ♥️♥️

Pausing today to reflect on how our freedom is not free. Thank you to all who’ve served, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

✨ SOLD in Clairmont Heights with Multple Offers Before Listing! ✨

The new owners of 685 N. Superior Avenue are about to fall in love with this lifestyle—walking to Sarah Donuts, ChocoLaté, and Po’ Boy Shop, quick runs to Emory Commons, minutes to Emory/CDC and Downtown Decatur. Not to mention mornings on their private patio, cooking in that stunning renovated kitchen with the original brick fireplace and Thermador appliances, and unwinding in the Zellige-tiled spa bathroom.

This fully-renovated 3BR/2BA classic had everything: champagne hardware, marble subway tile, two-car carport, dry basement storage, coveted Fernbank Elementary and Druid Hills HS—and no City of Decatur taxes.

It was lovely working with buyer’s agent Catherine Beadles (), coincidentally a month after partnering with her mom on a home buy/sell (real estate runs in the family!). And smooth closing as always thanks to Becht Neel of .

Ready for your next chapter in in-town Atlanta? Whether you’re buying, selling, moving up, or building custom, we’re here to guide you through it all.

We’re wrapping up our Decatur neighborhood data series with one of the city’s most quietly beloved communities: Parkwood. 🏡

Nestled between Ponce, Scott Boulevard, and East Lake Drive, Parkwood is the kind of neighborhood people move into and simply stay for decades (or never leave!) — pedestrian-friendly streets, spacious yards, historic homes, and a community so tight-knit that former residents come back as adults to raise their own families here.

That loyalty shows up in the data too: Parkwood recorded zero home sales in 2025. Not a sign of weakness — just a reflection of how rarely people choose to leave.

We have seen some early activity in 2026, so stay tuned. When a Parkwood home does come to market, it’s worth paying attention.

This wraps our 2022–2025 neighborhood series — but this is far from the last you’ll hear from us on Decatur market data. We’ll be sharing updates regularly throughout the year, neighborhood by neighborhood, as the market moves. 📊

And of course if you’re thinking of buying or selling or looking for advice on ROI of renovations, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d be happy to help!
