As we move through Alopecia Awareness Month, we are celebrating the incredible supporters, courageous survivors, and powerful stories reminding us why our mission matters.

Today, we want to shine a light on one of our amazing NYC program participants and survivors who courageously shared his personal journey with breast cancer as a man.

His story is a powerful reminder that cancer does not discriminate, and awareness is for EVERYONE.

His message to men is simple, yet life-changing:

✨ Don’t be afraid to ask the hard questions.
✨ Speak up when something doesn’t feel right.
✨ Advocate for your health and seek medical attention early.

Sometimes, the question you hesitate to ask could be the one that changes everything.

To our incredible survivor, thank you for trusting us with your story, using your voice to educate others, and standing with us in raising awareness for alopecia, lupus, cancer, and the many health challenges affecting our communities.

Your courage, advocacy, and dedication remind us that one story can spark a conversation, one conversation can inspire action, and early medical attention can make a life-changing difference.

Today, September 11, we remember.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced an unimaginable tragedy. Today, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families who continue to carry their memories, the first responders who ran toward danger, the healthcare professionals who cared for others, members of our military, and the countless people whose lives were forever changed.

At Alopecian Beauty Co., today is not a day for business as usual.

It is a day for remembrance, gratitude, service, unity, and humanity.

We encourage our Empowerment Circle to take a moment today to honor someone, thank a first responder or veteran, check on a neighbor, serve your community, or simply extend kindness to someone who needs it.

Because even in our most difficult moments, how we show up for one another matters.

From Remembrance to Service

That spirit of service also reminds us why Alopecian Beauty Co. continues this work.

Every day, families are navigating circumstances they never expected—an alopecia diagnosis, lupus, cancer, treatment-related hair loss, healthcare barriers, or simply trying to find someone who understands.

Our responsibility is to keep showing up.

As we prepare for September 24, we are deeply grateful for the sponsors, partners, grantors, community leaders, volunteers, and supporters helping bring our work to life.

Among that support is a $15,000 Independent Medical Education Grant from Pfizer supporting educational components of the 9th Annual Valor & Voices Health Equity Symposium & Gala.

And there are more announcements to come.

These investments are bigger than one evening. They help create opportunities surrounding patient education, life-science exposure, healthcare navigation, community wellness, youth development, research awareness, health-equity conversations, and families impacted by autoimmune conditions.

On Thursday, September 3, we officially reintroduced our Haircare & Wellness Hub Program, and we are excited to welcome our community partners, supporters, residents, youth, families, health and wellness professionals, and virtual participants.👏🏽👏🏽

This is especially meaningful because the program event serves as Session 1 of our 2nd 11-session program year, running September 2026 through August 2027. We look forward to continuing to build this initiative alongside the community.🎗️🎗️

Virtual Participation: We will also welcome virtual participants during the opening portion of the program from approximately 2:00 PM–2:40 PM EST each 1st Thursday of the Month!

The program reintroduces participants to the Haircare & Wellness Hub and provide a preview of the education, resources and engagement opportunities that will continue throughout the program year. Programming will include hair and scalp health education, autoimmune awareness, health confidence building, career exposure and networking, community resources, participant activities, and community dialogue/Q&A.
