This week's blog looks at the price of prescription drugs and how you can help your clients when Part D may not cover them.

"Even with Medicare Part D coverage, prescription drugs can still come with shockingly high price tags.

While many common generics cost just a few dollars, some specialty medications can exceed $30,000 to $80,000 per month. For example:

▪️ Mavenclad (MS treatment): ~$60,000 per treatment cycle
▪️ Vitrakvi (targeted cancer therapy): ~$32,000 per month
▪️ Duloxetine (generic Cymbalta)
▪️ Timolol
▪️Restasis
▪️ Xiidra
▪️ Diclofenac

Fortunately, most clients aren’t dealing with drugs at that level, but many are still paying more than they should.

Common medications like the following can still cost hundreds of dollars depending on the plan, pharmacy, or timing in the coverage phases.

This week's blog covers the Medicare Part D changes for 2027 agents need to know:

"Medicare Part D is often one of the toughest benefits for agents to walk clients through. Drug prices can change, coverage structure isn’t always intuitive, and plans shift from year to year. This can leave beneficiaries feeling overwhelmed, especially during enrollment season.

By 2027, Part D will look noticeably different. CMS’ multiyear redesign is largely wrapped up, and agents will be working within a program built around more predictable costs, improved affordability, and tighter cost controls.
