About a year ago, I visited this historic, neo-gothic fixer-upper in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, and it hasn’t left my consciousness since then. It needed work, but the potential was clear. The interior has been almost untouched since it was built in the 1890s, with a grand staircase; parquet floors; built-ins; rich, unpainted woodwork; a turn of the century bathroom; and more. Apparently it was once the home of former Chicago Mayor Harold Washington. It sold a few months after listing, and I have no idea in what state is it now. Here’s hoping it didn’t get the modern farmhouse treatment.
This mid-century-modern time-capsule house in Denver, Colorado just got a $48,000 price cut! It features a nearly all-original interior (save for some sensitive updates) with a kitchen with pink counters and retro appliances that feels straight out of an old sitcom;multiple pink bathrooms; stunning exposed ceilings; a fully-finished basement rumpus room; a second kitchen; a customized barbecue; and more! What’s your favorite part?
Huge thanks to the listing agent, Nic Conolly of and to for being my official Rocky Mountain Correspondent.

This stunning, 1970s time-capsule house in Cincinnati, Ohio just hit the market at $450,000. I still remember the first time I saw this listing, years ago. Being honest, I did not feel particularly optimistic about its future back then. I’ve seen sooo many cool old homes gutted and given the modern farmhouse treatment. But this home got a rare happy ending! The current owners spent years restoring the house to its former glory, and somehow managed to snake it even MORE 70s. See more of this house at the link in my bio!
Come tour this untouched, 1970s time-capsule house with me! It’s in Paw Paw, Michigan, on the market at $700,000, and the second I saw this place on Zillow, I KNEW I needed to see it in person. It was built in 1976, and has somehow managed to survive all these years with all of its fabulous/funky features in tact. There are so many fabulous features — an all-original kitchen with vintage appliances; one of the most stunning bathrooms ever featured on this page; carpeted walls; and much, much more — but my favorite part is that basement rumpus room, which is a masterpiece of 1970s interior design, and a reminder of just how much character and originality weve lost in modern homes, with wildly patterned s**g carpet, wood paneled walls, a bar, and even a billiards lounge. When I heard this place was owned by the people who ran the local bowling alley, I wasn’t in the least surprised. What’s your favorite part? And — just asking for my own edification — do you guys prefer “long” tours, or having them doled out in parts? I’m asking for a friend.
Thank you for letting me tour the home!

So… anybody want to move to upstate New York to run a mom and pop pizza place/mini golf course? This Oswego, New York diner — opened in 1950, and recently shuttered after seven decades of family ownership — just hit the market, and I could not be more obsessed with it — all the neon lights; that fabulous sign; the wood paneling; THAT BAR… just vintage perfection. Anybody else considering a move to Oswego? As always you can find the listing at the link in my bio. Thank you so much to for sending me these amazing photos he took of the restaurant.
Today, we’re touring a $9,500,000, untouched, 1990s time-capsule condo in Miami. This is the kind of listing that justifies the literal hours of screen time I dedicate to Zillow. I’m honestly shocked this is a product of the mid 1990s because it seems so, DEEPLY 1980s — lots of shiny black (and purple!) lacquer; frosted glass:mirrors(on the walls, in the ceilings, in the furniture…); sculpted carpet; multiple bars; a party room; etc. Ugh and that primary suite… This one honestly has me considering booking a flight to tour this place in person!

A few weeks ago, I got together with and Realtor to tour their their AMAZING 1970s time-capsule house, which they are in the midst of restoring. The home — which used to belong to a well-known Pl***oy photographer — has a lot going for it, but my favorite part (for obvious reasons) is the living room — with its full bar, fireplace, and built-in, stucco covered seating area which was truly unlike anything I’ve seen before — Think… an above-ground conversation pit. The whole room has a very Santorini, resort-y vibe to it (mixed in, of course, with a healthy dose of 70s futurism. Other highlights of the home include “patchwork-style” tilework;a library; kidney shaped-pool; a seriously cool breakfast bar; a double-height photo studio; and more. Thank you again to Jered and Brittani for the tour!
Today, I drove to the adorably-named Paw Paw, Michigan to tour this almost untouched 1970s time-capsule house! My full tour is coming soon, but for now here’s a preview of a few of my favorite features including the wide variety of s**g carpeting; the gorgeous vintage wallpaper; and the basement billiards lounge. A LOT more to come! Thank you to the listing agent Danielle Baker (of Re/Max hometown) for letting me tour the place — you can check out the listing at the link in my bio
