Our SRO team was happy to join teachers and staff from across Morgan County for the kickoff of the 2026-2027 school year at the Rural Development Park!

On August 4, 2026, Patrol Deputies took two burglary reports on Fowler Rd in the Somerville area. Later that evening, patrol was able to develop a suspect utilizing the Flock system and conducted a traffic stop on one of the individuals believed to be involved.

During the traffic stop, deputies developed probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Gerald Ray Massey, of Somerville, was found to be in possession of alcohol and drug paraphernalia. Massey was arrested and charged with:
▪️13A-12-260 - Unlawful Possession Drug Paraphernalia
▪️28-4-20 - Illegal Possession of Prohibited Liquor Illegal possession of prohibited liquor
The vehicle was impounded.

The next day, investigators conducted a search warrant on the vehicle locating multiple stolen items from the burglaries. Massey was additionally charged with 2 counts of:
▪️13A-8-18.1 - Stolen Property-RSP Receiving Stolen Property, $500- less than $1500

Investigators then executed a search warrant at Massey's residence on Cotaco Florette Rd in the Somerville area. While executing the search warrant at the residence, contact was made with Stephanie Haridman who also resides at the residence. During the search, numerous other stolen items from the burlgaries were located along with drug paraphernalia.

Hardiman was arrested and charged with:

▪️13A-8-18.1 - Stolen Property-RSP Receiving Stolen Property, $500- less than $1500
▪️13A-9-14(a) - Stolen Property-IPCC Illegal Possession/Use Of A Credit/Debit Card
▪️13A-12-260 - Unlawful Possession Drug Paraphernalia

The investigation is ongoing, and other arrests are pending.

Deputies and VFD responded to a residential fire that occurred sometime in the night on Hopewell Rd in Danville. No one was in the residence but the structure was a complete loss,
Investigators are on scene and the Fire Marshall has been contacted.

Use caution in the area due to law enforcement presence.

UPDATE: Kiara Sweitzer has been safely located.

The Decatur Police Department requests the public's assistance locating a missing person.

Kiara Sweitzer, 27, was reportedly last seen August 2, 2026 at approximately 10 a.m. walking west on Highway 20 from Woodall Road.

Kiara is described as being 5'7" tall, about 127 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to call the Decatur Police Department at 256-341-4660.
