Another Reunion Update

I heard from one of our classmates today who thought she wasn’t going to be able to attend. Now she is going to try to rearrange her schedule and come to the reunion. That’s great news, and we hope it happens! For everyone else, if you can attend, please do, and you can pay at the door. If that is your plan, would you email me back and tell me? We need to tell the restaurants how many people are attending so that they will have enough food and wait staff.

Another point we need to make is about the reunion picture. The plan is to arrive at 6:00 on Saturday evening, socialize and eat, then have the picture taken at 7:00. The DJ will start after that. We’ve seen in the past that it’s chaotic to sign up and pay for the picture at the reunion. This year we’re asking you to send your money now and we will have you signed up and paid for before that night. Send your check to MHS Reunion, 4090 Bayview Dr., Decatur, IL 62521. The cost is $15 for the 8x10 and this way the photographer will already have your info, so things should run much more smoothly.

Saturday day plans are still iffy. One thing that was said is that if you play pickle ball, bring your racket and tennies and there will be a group that meets at 9:00 at Sinawik Park. Another idea that was proposed was taking a group walk on part of our bike trails which run from Forsyth to Mt. Zion. Fairview Park has a walking path throughout and should bring back lots of good memories. Those plans you can arrange Friday night with your friends.

We have some updates from our last letter. Our Friday night, August 11th, plans have stayed the same. We will meet at 6 o’clock at the Hall, 520 E. North St. (formerly the K of C Hall), serve hors d’oeuvres, and have a cash bar.

The Wagon, 3190 N. Woodford Street, is still the venue for Saturday evening but we’ve moved the time up to 6 o’clock. We will have a buffet dinner and cash bar, followed by a DJ. The cost will still be $30/couple to attend both nights, $20/single to attend both nights, and $15 regardless if couple or single for one night. Both nights will be very casual dress.

For those of you who have indicated that you want to play golf, we are still planning on going to the Moweaqua Golf Course on Friday, August 11th. We will provide more information as we get closer to the date but if you have any questions, call Dave Parr at 217 433-0001.

We are trying to set up some activities for Saturday during the day. We’ll let you know what we come up with so you can plan accordingly.

An address book will be given out at the reunion. We are only putting in names and addresses of the people who we have heard back from in the past year. If you are not planning on attending, but still want an address book, please send us a check for five dollars, along with your address, email address and phone number, and we will put it in the mail to you. Send it to Becky Erickson, 4090 Bayview Dr., Decatur, IL 62521. If, for some reason, you don’t want that information in the book, please let me know that too!

Your reunion committee

Dear Fellow Classmates,

As we get closer to our reunion on August 11th & 12th, we wanted to get an email to everyone with more specifics. On Friday, the 11th, we will meet at THE HALL (Knights of Columbus), 520 E North Street, at 6:00 PM for light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. On Saturday, the 12th, we will meet at THE WAGON, 3190 N. Woodford, at 6:30 PM for heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Plus, on Saturday we are going to have a DJ playing 60’s music to enjoy from around 7:30-10:30, or later for those who are hard core. Bring your dancing shoes!

For those classmates who have indicated that they want to play golf, we are planning on going to the Moweaqua Golf Course on Friday, August 11th. We decided that by playing on Friday instead of Saturday, it gives more free time on Saturday to enjoy family or sight-seeing. We will provide more information as we get closer to the date but if you have any questions, call Dave Parr at 217 433-0001.

Possible activities for those not wishing to golf will be sent out in a later email as we confirm them.

From this date on, we will stay in contact with everyone via emails, not snail mail, so we can keep updating information as needed. Please be sure to pass the information on to other classmates who might not use email.

Our reunion responses have been very low so far. If we are going to be able to put this on, we are going to have to have a lot more participants. If you haven’t sent your forms and checks in yet, but plan on attending, please do so.
