🇺🇸 Fun Fact Friday
Did you know Memorial Day was originally called “Decoration Day”?
It began after the Civil War to honor fallen soldiers by decorating their graves with flowers. The first official observance was in 1868 at Arlington National Cemetery.
Today, we honor their sacrifice — and remember that freedom isn’t free.
Wishing you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend from all of us at Smith’s Electronics.
We will be closed Monday May 26th in observance of Memorial Day.
Fun Fact: – Remote Start Edition with Smith’s Electronics!
Back in the early 1980s, clever drivers (especially in chilly places) started using the first remote start systems to warm up their engines before braving the cold. ❄️
These early systems were basic and totally aftermarket—but by the 1990s, remote starts got smarter, safer, and seriously cool (or warm, depending on the weather). 😉
Nowadays? You can start your ride with an app, set seat warmers, defrost windows, and impress your neighbors—all before you even put on your shoes. 😎🔥
👉 Beat the weather and start in style with remote start installs from Smith’s Electronics.
We will be closed on Thursday, May 8th.
As we observe Good Friday and look toward Resurrection Sunday, we pause to reflect on the deeper meaning of this season — hope, renewal, and grace.
🎧 Flashback Friday with Smith’s Electronics!
In 1963, Philips dropped the first cassette tape, and by the '80s, car stereos were never the same. Mixtapes, anyone? 🎶🎤
Whether you’re rocking retro or streaming Spotify—we upgrade car audio like pros.

Did you Know?
First Car Radio Installation:
Date: 1930
By: The Galvin Manufacturing Corporation (later became Motorola)
Details:
The first commercially successful car radio was called the Motorola 5T71.
Installed in a Studebaker, it cost about $110, which was a lot at the time—almost 1/4 the price of a new car.
“Motorola” came from “motor” + “Victrola” (a popular phonograph brand), so it literally meant “sound in motion.”
🧪 Early Experiments:
There were some custom/experimental car radio installs as early as the 1920s, but they weren’t mass produced or reliable.
Fun fact:
In the 1930s, some cities tried to ban car radios, worried they’d distract drivers. That didn’t exactly stick!
We will be closing from July 1st threw the 14th. Reopen July 15th.
Depending on weather and road conditions we may not be open Monday or Tuesday. If we have to close we will reschedule our current appointments.
Just a FYI our sign on the front of the building is down. Time for a new one.
