National Weather Service Storm Spotter #1174 since 1996. American Red Cross disaster assessment trained. I will not predict anything.

I will use the tools I have to help educate and try to keep people safe. IL-MA-41, Decatur 3.0W CoCoRaHS

Interesting. We are already #1 in the nation with total tornados. Our Central Illinois area leads the way!

Reminder from this Social Mediarologist:

I do this as a hobby. I've been at this for 34 years now and I love it. I don't get paid for this and I can't afford all the fancy tools that you see others use. I use knowledge and experience. Is it 100%? Hell no, but then even the teams that have spent thousands on their equipment aren't 100%. They fail many more times than they succeed, you just never see that.

My entire purpose is to hopefully warn even the 1 person to keep them safe. If I have succeeded in that, then it's a win that can never be replaced.

I do this when I can and as I have time. It's much more time consuming and difficult than you might think.

If you ever have questions, please never hesitate to reach out to me. I honestly rarely check this messenger. It sucks trying to go back and forth on messenger. But, I will start doing better about that. Reach out to my personal profile if you'd like. I am always on that. I am always willing to help, answer questions and maybe educate a little. I love doing that.

Thank you for being a part of the journey here.

So for now, stay weather aware!!

Mike

2 areas of circulation. 1 right over Weldon, and 1 just east of Clinton, headed toward Farmer City.

Take shelter!! Gonna be windy and heavy heavy rain! You won't see a tornado. It's going to be rain wrapped

04/27/2026

Mt. Pulaski!! Moving east pretty quick. Areas down wind, seek shelter

04/27/2026

If you're in the field, here is your shelf cloud. Gonna be windy.

I don't see any circulation, but these spin ups could be quick and rain wrapped.

These areas along I-55 from Springfield to Lincoln and a little beyond need to be on their toes.

These storms are getting a little bit frisky. Circulation has been consistent with this grouping.

There has been quite a bit of hail as well. As these come together, I would think that we would lose some spin, but any severe storm can drop a twister.

All my friend along this route, and in Lincoln, best find your shelter!

This is the set of storms that we were counting on, however, with the temps being as low as they are, they likely won't be there tornado producers that were originally thought to be. Tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Any severe storm could be tornadic.

Instead, these may produce some decent hail.

Have a plan just in case

TORNADO WARNING Taylorville! Get in your shelter now

04/27/2026

Just south of Pawnee... moving east towards the south side of Taylorville. Rotation possible coming in.

04/27/2026

I'm not saying there's a tornado here, but Maroa, Argenta and those areas, be prepared now!!

Still showing broad rotation
