The time has come for me to turn the page to a new chapter. As with any good book, growth requires movement—and today marks that moment for me and for Kidstown Pediatrics.

I want to sincerely thank all former patients and parents for trusting me and the Kidstown staff with your care. It has truly been my pleasure and honor to serve as your primary care provider. I never took lightly that you chose Kidstown Pediatrics as your medical home.

This moment is bittersweet. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for patients from newborns to adults and even welcoming some back as parents themselves. What an incredible journey that has been.

I am deeply grateful to the dedicated staff who worked alongside me, providing quality care to every family who walked through our doors.

While this chapter is closing, I’m excited to share that a new one is beginning as I join the team at Happi Health. I am thankful for the opportunity to continue serving our community through an innovative organization committed to accessible, compassionate care for all.

To the Decatur community and surrounding areas, thank you for allowing a small-town girl from Tennessee to live out a lifelong dream.

Thank you for the years of support, trust, and community. I will cherish them always.

With gratitude,
Dr. Melissa Young-Harkins

Anxiety, and fear often cause our posture to change without us even noticing. Our upper body collapses as a protective response to these emotions, trying to shield our vital organs.

When this happens, other parts of the body, especially the calves, have to work harder to keep us balanced and stable. This extra strain builds up tension in the calves, as they compensate for the collapsing upper body.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the bladder meridian runs from the head down the back and through the calves. This meridian is connected to how we handle stress and fear. When these emotions are stored and not released, the tension shows up in the calves as tightness or pain.

How to practice:
This simple stretch helps release tension and emotions stored in the calves. Follow these steps:

🍀 Kneel on a mat and relax your legs.
🍀 Cross one leg over the other and gently sit down.
🍀 Don’t force or push; move slightly until you find the spot where you feel a stretch.
🍀 Stay where you feel about 50-60% tension, relax, and breathe deeply for 1-2 minutes. Make sure both legs are as relaxed as possible.
🍀 Repeat on the other side.

It’s completely normal to feel emotional after a meridian release. This happens because stored emotions, such as fear, stress, or anxiety, are finally being released from the body. As the blocked energy starts to flow freely again, it’s common to experience feelings of relief, sadness, or even joy. Embrace these emotions—they are part of the healing process. 🌿

Unblocking your meridians is key to deeper healing and relief from the stress that keeps you feeling stuck. Comment ”Relief“ and join my 4-step program with an early access offer now to start your journey toward balance and inner peace! 🌿
