Do you have one of these personality traits?
I was recently quoted in an article from Heathline about the five "big" traits -- emotional stability, extraversion, conscientiousness, openness, and agreeableness -- that seem to contribute to overall work, social, and life satisfaction in adults. Of these five traits, emotional stability seems to be the greatest indicator of satisfaction. Important to note, however, that personality traits can change and shift slightly through your lifetime!
My biggest recommendation? Boost your mood by finding and engaging in activities that are a good fit for you!

Stick with me here ... is code switching a form of dissociation? Do we dissociate slightly (or majorly!) in order to deal with the traumatic pressures of an injust and harmful society? I've got to know what you think ... let me know in the comments!

Ever pull your car into the parking lot at work and realize you don't remember anything from the drive in? Highway hypnosis like that is a form of dissociation--a disconnect that we all experience from time-to-time. Have you had any feelings like this recently? Lemme know!
Have you ever considered virtual therapy? Or do you feel (like I used to feel!) a little weirded out by it? It took a pandemic to nudge me into regularly practicing teletherapy, but I've since learned that there is a *lot* about virtual therapy to love! Check out my three top reasons why I love virtual therapy, and let me know what questions you have!

"do I contradict myself/very well then I contradict myself/(i am large, i contain multitudes)" (walt whitman, song of myself)
Hey there! Y'all know I am a licensed clinical psychologist, as well as an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Richmond. Like most of us, I juggle other hats as a mother, lover/wife, dancer, and proud Buffy afficianado (maybe you're less geeky than me, which is cool for you, I guess). This piece right here (https://urnow.richmond.edu/magazine/article/-/22835/in-session.html) felt a bit vulnerable as it explored me, the human; my work; and how I got to where I am right now. Feel free to check it out and learn a bit more about the woman behind the random af posts.

Nevereverever stop learning! Like so many professors and therapists, I love opportunities to further my education to make sure I'm bringing the most up-to-date techniques and methods to both the classroom and to therapy sessions. I recently went on my first international conference, and I was really excited to see what new perspectives I would gain as I had the opportunity to learn from folks from all around the world.
Let me know in the comments -- what have you been learning recently?
