Our president, Greg Schinkel, sat down with Amara Rozgus, editor in chief of Plant Engineering, to talk about something every manufacturer is feeling right now: a workforce in transition.
Between waves of retirements and the rise of AI, the people running your floor tomorrow won't look like the people running it today, and that means rethinking how we train supervisors.

Let's be honest, when most of us think about holding someone accountable, we think about making sure they know they messed up.
But if we're really being honest with ourselves? That's not what we actually want.
We don't want them to feel stupid. We don't want them to feel ashamed. We just want the mistake not to happen again, and here's the thing: shame and guilt don't make people perform better. Not for the right reasons anyway. What actually works is understanding. A real conversation where your team member gets to understand what happened, why it happened, and what to do differently next time.
That's not a punishment conversation. That's a learning conversation, and learning conversations build people up instead of tearing them down.

Want to build accountability without breaking your team's morale? Here's the simplest advice we can give you: give more feedback, more often.
When feedback becomes a regular part of how you lead, it stops feeling like a punishment and starts feeling like support. Your team stops dreading those conversations because they know you're not waiting for things to go really wrong before you say something.
Morale isn't broken by feedback. It's built on pride in the work, collaboration, and knowing that your leader is in your corner — not waiting to blame you.
So next time you see something small, say something small

Most leaders wait too long to address problems, and that's exactly what makes accountability conversations so stressful.
Here's a simple shift that will help: address issues early, while they're still small.
When you catch something on the line that isn't quite right, don't assume your team member will figure it out on their own. Go to them. Make the small correction while it's still small.
The more often you have these conversations, the better you get at giving feedback, and the more comfortable your team gets receiving it. That's how you build a culture of accountability without killing morale.

When a new initiative gets announced, you have two options — hunker down and resist, or stay curious and open-minded.

"What are you solving for?"
Most owners are reaching for the next tool, the next software, the next framework. They haven't actually identified the real problem yet.
The fix isn't another app. It's a better question.

Two of the fastest ways to improve operational performance in your business?
Fractional COO Josh Post shared what he sees over and over again inside companies that are struggling to execute.
1️⃣ Talk to your humans.
Most management teams sit on a problem in silence. They sweat over it in their office, but the people doing the work usually have the answer — they've just never been asked.
2️⃣ Map your flow.
Every business that struggles with ex*****on doesn't have a clear, consistent way of moving work through the organization. Outlook calendars and printed sheets aren't a system.
