Day 2 of the annual spring rod building event was another successful day. All rod wrapping was completed by midafternoon and the rods set in the driers ready to receive sealer to the cork grips and epoxy to the wraps. Hats off to all the participants this weekend as they all turned out some stellar fly rods. Huge thanks my APL Jeff Vollmer for putting this weekend together every year. Another big thank you goes out newly appointed APL Liz Jones and volunteer Dustin Carneal for all of their help throughout the day.

Day 1 of our annual spring fly rod building weekend. True spines are found on the rods and all guides are marked and put into place, ready for wrapping after Jeff demonstrates the proper technique. Big thanks to my APL’s Jeff and Liz for putting on such a great event for our group.

A season's worth of pictures.... This year our program caught 18 different species of fish on the fly. Our competition winner was Darcey Beyer with 13 species him self!!! We had a number of our participants do a LOT of fishing on their own and THAT is what its all about folks!!! During our normal every other wednseday private pond outings to our 3 saturday fishing events I think we can safely say we had a great time and netted more than afew fish. fun and learning had by all!!

The group enjoyed a great presentation from the WDNR Fisheries crew. We learned about different fisheries around the state and how to fish them. Bonus segment was all about the etymology of a few local trout streams and to “match the hatch” by investigating and finding the bugs that the fish are feeding on.
