Happy Saturday! So much going on this weekend. I know lots of kids have playoff games from youth travel sports to school sports. Good luck to everyone -have fun, work hard, play harder!!!!

Here's the calendar of events for the month of June. As I wrote in the June "Hello Neighbors" this may be the most exciting summer in recent memory with America 250, World Cup at the Lincoln Financial Field, All-Star game at Citizens Bank Park and so much local stuff. Don't forget Fathers Day, Junetenth, and Flag Day. I am going to add events to this page as they come, please do the same and share with everyone.

Today you have FREE kids craft at Home Depot. Every location has them and if you get there late you may be able to grab one to go and do at home. The Big Fun Run hosted by Fleet Feet Springfield PA starts at 4pm at Saxers. Delco Rats plays at Craftys Bar & Bottle Shop at 7pm. Below is a picture of their June lineup and new sign. Congrats to the new owners. The Rose Tree Italian Festival is going off Sunday at 10am with cars, games, music, food, craft vendors and more. Can we do it all? We can certainly try!

So I was cleaning up some paperwork and came across this quote from Henry Ford: "Stopping your advertising to save money is like stopping your watch to save time". I've always liked this quote but wanted to dive deeper since this pertains to marketing and branding! This is the response and will leave it here for your knowledge.

Attributed to Henry Ford, this famous quote highlights that cutting marketing to save money is counterproductive, as it ultimately wastes the momentum, visibility, and potential revenue your business relies on, much like stopping a clock doesn't actually halt the passage of time.
-Long-term Loss: Cutting ads ruins brand awareness, and it can take over two years to recover the same level of recognition.
-Lost Momentum: While you may reduce expenses, you also lose customers, market share, and competitive advantage to others who continue to advertise.
-Not an Expense: Effective advertising is viewed as a critical investment in growth, not just a line-item cost.

At Tuesday's Board of Commissioners meeting, the winner of the 2026 Hunter Long Award was announced. This award, sponsored by Ancient Order of Hibernians members Art and Jim Hunter, is given out each year in memory of their uncle and father to the group that best epitomizes the spirit of the Springfield St. Patrick's Day Parade. This year's winner, Carmella's Dance Studio, was selected for their outstanding performance in the parade and efforts to engage with the community. Congratulations to all of the dancers!!
