The American ag bioeconomy is a $489 billion industry, and new bipartisan legislation could accelerate its growth significantly.
The Biobased Materials Investment and Production Act, introduced by Reps. Fischbach and Budzinski, would offer tax incentives to expand domestic biobased manufacturing: either $0.10 per pound of qualified renewable products or a 30% investment tax credit for facility construction and retrofitting.
For AMG, this kind of legislation hits close to home. We've spent 45 years engineering the facilities that make this industry run: fermentation plants, biorefineries, biomanufacturing infrastructure. We've seen firsthand what it takes to bring emerging bio-based processes from concept to industrial scale. And we know the bottleneck is rarely the science. It's good to see new ways emerging to improve the flow of capital in the bio-based economy.

Safety is not only a job site concern.
It's hard to believe it's been 7 years since the devastating EF4 tornado that tore through Dayton, Ohio over Memorial Day weekend in 2019. AMG's headquarters was in the path of destruction of that tornado. While our damage was limited, the same could not be said for many other homes and businesses in our immediate community. Most people driving through the area now might not even notice the evidence of that storm, but the scars on the natural and built environment are still there if you look for them.
We are so grateful for our safety team and to Fred Mayberry who took some time off from job site work to stop by headquarters and go over our tornado emergency plans. Hopefully we never see another tornado like the one from 2019, but preparing for these types of events is a crucial part of our safety strategy.

This past weekend was International Women’s Day, and March is Women’s History Month. At AMG, this recognition reflects something fundamental about our company. We are a woman-owned company, and women serve in key roles throughout our organization, including engineering, leadership, and across the teams that help our projects move from concept to completion. In an industry where women have long been underrepresented, their knowledge, steady leadership, and problem-solving ability help define who we are.
This month is a time to celebrate the women making an impact today, and to remember the women who helped open the door. From Anna Gertrude Garrell Adams, the first woman known to earn a U.S. P.E. license in 1923, to Gladys West, whose groundbreaking mathematical work was foundational to the development of GPS, to Frances H. Arnold, whose groundbreaking research has changed the very industries in which AMG works, their engineering contributions continue to shape the world around us.
We’re proud to be part of that legacy, and proud of the women at AMG who continue to strengthen our company, our work, and our future. Each day they lead us forward, reaffirm our commitments to our clients, and, most importantly, show our next generation what is possible.

Nothing brings engineers together like good chili and big ideas. Last week’s AMG chili cook-off turned our quarterly meeting into a delicious team experience -- sharing recipes, desserts, project wins, and what’s next for our clients. And congratulations to Scott Reckers on taking home the inaugural cook-off win!
For those of you outside of Ohio, don't worry, while we are just up the road from Cincinnati, no chili was served on top of spaghetti...

Yesterday's Economic Forum hosted by the Dayton Business Journal gave us a great review of Ohio's economic standing the last several years and a roadmap for where it is headed. As an Ohio business, it is great to see how much time, energy, and financial resources are being directed towards the Buckeye State's growth. Not only is Ohio investing in infrastructure and attracting new business, our state is also investing heavily in our people. Which, when it comes down to it, is the most important reason companies decide to come here. Thank you JP Nauseef (JobsOhio) for the inspiring presentation and to the panelists, Jeff Hoagland, Gil Turner, Daniel Wolking and Alberto Cracco. Well done event, as always, by Corey Earl and the DBJ Team.

Congratulations to United States Angling Confederation's USA Bass Youth Team on their gold medal finish at the Tri-Nations Cup at Loskop Dam! Located in Mpumalanga, South Africa, Loskop Dam is widely regarded for its scenery, wildlife, and large Florida Strain Largemouth Bass. AMG Engineering was privileged to assist the team with map assets used for the team’s lake analysis and detailed strategy.
Team USA delivered a decisive victory, winning the gold medal by over 113 pounds and catching the largest fish of the tournament at over 10 pounds! Six of Team USA’s anglers set personal bests during the tournament!
In a message to AMG from Assistant Coach Eric Stall, “The decisive win would not have been possible without your help and support on the map. I cannot thank you enough for your support and what you did for Team USA!”
Congratulations again to everyone on Team USA!
USAngling is a charitable organization that provides leadership for U.S. National Fishing Teams competing worldwide, engages America’s youth, supports conservation efforts, and empowers local community angling groups.
