Good to have someone like Aiden Divelbiss around to keep it light when the work gets serious.

Super challenging insertion Doppler velocity flowmeter commissioning with Chris Davisand Aiden Divelbiss. Insert sensor was installed by client less than 2 diameters after a 250HP pump and 3 diameters before a tee with a butterfly valve. Tuned it to within 10% of rated pump curve.

Things get done differently in the Dakotas. Tim Quinlan man you would have loved today. Especially the jacked up 4x4 diesel extended VAN.

Flow and quality integration for mining discharge. Magnetic meter, pH, temp and turbidity. Making sure that the waterways stay the way nature intended.

Metering for monitoring flow and temperature for overflow discharge. Integrated level transmitter with custom built flow table for non-standard primary device. Installed cellular modem to allow for remote data access and solar panel to make a cost effective installation in an otherwise undesirable location.

Semi permanent meters for CA SB88 compliance for diverting water. Mace plus a simple low power mag meter is a great way to measure the crystal clear water out of some reservoirs.

Commissioning of an area velocity meter. Key to getting the most out of these units is to dial in the expected range so that the majority of the computing power is focused on that range instead of the tails. They work incredibly well in semi clean pumped water, runoff etc. This happens to be a pumped irrigation application.

We’ve worked in worse looking spots! Simple transmitter repair and annual permitted calibration. Humming along for another two years.

This was another great installation of In-Situ Environmental level transmitters and loggers to monitor flow levels at some toe drains. Toe drain monitoring allows collection of seepage from a dam structure that then can be monitored as one more tool in the box to understand dam health). Had the pleasure of working with Andrew Sobonya and Jordan Babbington on this one. Truly the epitome of professionalism and one of the reasons I still enjoy this work!

After a long day yesterday I was reminded that we have been negligent about our social media! Well, thanks Andrew for reminding me! More to come, but first from last week we installed an In-Situ Environmental Mace Meter. This site originally had an area velocity meter but the client was getting poor readings across the board. After some investigation we found that the level was too low and the velocity too high to adequately capture data reliably. We swapped out the AV sensor for a pressure transmitter combined with a compound weir. This gives us both low level flow as well as the capability to capture peak events in the system.
