Microsoft has announced the end of life for Windows 10, set for October 14, 2025. This means that after this date, there will be no more updates or support for Windows 10, which can leave your systems vulnerable to security risks.

𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝟏𝟏 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬.

Windows 11 has more stringent hardware requirements than Windows 10. It requires a compatible 64-bit processor with at least 1 GHz clock speed, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of storage. Additionally, it mandates a DirectX 12 compatible graphics card, TPM version 2.0, and Secure Boot capability.

Windows 11 includes advanced security features that older hardware may not support, such as Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) and Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity (HVCI).

The new OS is designed to optimize performance on modern hardware, leveraging technologies like NVMe SSDs and faster GPUs.

𝐔𝐩𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
• Laptops and desktops purchased before 2017 will likely not be compatible with Windows 11.

• We recommend starting to plan your upgrades now to avoid any disruption to your business operations.

Fake Domain Renewal Letters

In recent months, we've noticed a surge in fraudulent domain name renewal letters. These letters often claim that your domain is expiring soon, urging you to renew it immediately. However, the companies sending these letters are not affiliated with your actual domain registrar.

How to Identify a Fake Domain Letter
• Check the sender. Verify that the sender's email address and company match your actual domain registrar.

• Review the details. Authentic renewal notices will include specific details about your domain, such as the exact expiration date and your domain name.

• Contact your registrar. If you're unsure, reach out to us and we can verify if the request is legitimate or not.

The most common misconception is probably one of two things:
• People assume they don’t have a need for Cyber insurance for any number of reasons, or
• People assume if their insurance policy says they have some coverage for “Cyber Liability,” that they’re appropriately covered.

In reality, there are many differences between each insurance company’s version of Cyber Liability coverage. There are different terminologies, different exclusions, limits of insurance, etc. Just because your policy says you have Cyber coverage does NOT mean you have what you need.

Fenson Contracting was established in 2012 as a small excavation contractor. We are still true to that primary service from day one but have added and continue to add more services. We primarily focus on earthwork, site development, water & sewer lines, street reconstructions, box culverts, concrete work, demolition, trucking, and mobile crushing/screening. Our clients are primarily public government entities including villages, cities, counties, township, state, etc. We also work for general contractors, and developers and perform work on municipal, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and residential projects. Fenson Contracting currently has 30 full-time employees, 5 part-time employees, and maintains a fleet of 100 pieces of heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers.

Imposter scams refer to a scam where a fraudster impersonates a trusted individual, business, or organization to convince a target to transfer money.

In an imposter scam, fraudsters will often:

• Contact you via a phone call, email, text, online advertisement, or social media post.

• Claim to be security/technical support for a known and reputable company, such as Microsoft, or a trusted financial institution like Schwab.

• Ask you to download software and/or request remote access to your computer.

• Send you an email or text message with a link or attachment, which may ask you to approve/deny a transaction, set up new credentials, or take some other action regarding your account.
