The day marks the invention of the Daguerreotype, an early photographic process developed by Louis Daguerre in 1839, which was officially recognized by the French government on August 19th of that year.

The celebration acknowledges the contributions of photographers around the world and the role photography plays in capturing moments, telling stories, and preserving memories. It’s also a day to appreciate how photography has evolved over the years, from early techniques to the digital age, and its influence on culture, communication, and art.

Never forget the importance that images play in our lives, although we don't think much about it, capturing a moment in time is a shred of evidence that our experiences, emotions, and connections are real.
