Low-Income Refund Program for Park Maintenance Tax and Open Space Protection Tax Deadline is July 31

Qualified low-income homeowners can receive a full refund of their Davis Park Maintenance Tax and Open Space Protection Tax for 2025-2026 by returning a completed City application form by July 31, 2026.

This is an annual refund program (not an exemption from the tax), that appears on the property tax bill. To be eligible, applicants must be owner-occupants of property in Davis and meet the low-income requirements for the gross or total combined household income. Maximum income limits for both taxes are based on 50% of median income for the household size. For example, the total or gross combined household income for one person cannot exceed $45,400 and for a family of two, it cannot exceed $51,850. The limit for a family of four is $64,800, and the limit for a family of eight is $85,550. Only one application is required for both refund programs.

•City Hall Finance Department,23 Russell Boulevard

Residents can return completed applications by: mailing to City Hall Finance Department at 23 Russell Blvd, depositing it in the City Hall parking lot drop box or visiting in person the City Hall Finance Department. Can you say semiquincentennial? That's 250th "birthday" to many of us. Come celebrate at the free City of Davis festivities on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 4 – 10 p.m. at Community Park, located at 203 E. 14th Street in Davis.

The schedule and activities include, but are not limited to:
•4 p.m.: Snacks and treats available for purchase from local non-profit groups
•4-8 p.m.: A free game zone coordinated by Discovery Christian Church
•5-8 p.m.: Kids Market with young entrepreneurs selling their creations
•6:30 p.m.: Live music coordinated by the Davis Live Music Collective, featuring Rainbow City Park band at 6:30 p.m. and RonKat Spearman’s Katdelic at 8 p.m.
•9:35 p.m.: A 15-minute fireworks show

Please note that this display is the only safe and legal use of fireworks that is allowed by the City of Davis. For public safety, a City ordinance prohibits the use or discharge of fireworks or any substances designed for pyrotechnic display. The sale of any type of fireworks within the City of Davis boundaries is also prohibited.

The City of Davis announced today that applications are being accepted until July 24, 2026, from Davis residents (18 years of age and older) to serve on one of the following City Commissions:

•Climate and Environmental Justice
•Human Relations

Commissions have a critical role in the community and serve at the direction of the City Council. Commissions study issues within their scope of authority, analyze and recommend policies and programs and serve as public forums to hear resident interests and perspectives.

“We look to the expertise and dedication of our commissioners to advise the City Council on important City projects and initiatives,” said Mayor Donna Neville. “Commissions are a great way to get involved in your city government.”

Applications are tentatively scheduled to be submitted to City Council for appointment at a public meeting in August. For an application, visit: https://www.cityofdavis.org/city-hall/city-clerk/apply-to-serve-on-a-city-commission.

Applications may be submitted via mail to the City Clerk’s Office at: City Hall (23 Russell Blvd., Suite 1, Davis, CA, 95616), via the drop box located in the City Hall parking lot or via email to: [email protected]. All applications and accompanying documents are considered public information and may be disclosed or released pursuant to the California Public Records Act. In addition to the application form, commission applicants may be asked to participate in a 15-minute interview via Zoom with the City Council Subcommittee and City staff.
