Thank you to everyone who came to our Dog Days of Summer Picnic event at Turkovich Family Winery this evening!
Adoptable Noor was a rockstar hanging out with everyone and made lots of new human and dog friends! This sweet man is on the lookout for a fur-ever family and showed that he is a great companion to bring along for hanging out at a winery.
If you missed your chance to meet him today, he’ll be at tomorrow’s adoption event at the Davis Pet Food Express from 11am-2pm!

ADOPTABLE: MARIGOLD
Available foster sibling: Loki
Cat's Name: Marigold
Cat's Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Cat's Color: Grey, cream, and white
Coat Length Short
Cat S*x: Female
Estimated Birthday 09-02-2025
Okay to live in a home with... Dogs & Cats
Physical Description: Marigold has beautiful markings of swirls and stripes. She is grey and cream all over with white from her chest down her belly. She has 3 white paws. She has the most exquisite golden eyes.
Personality:
Marigold has the most exquisite looks, with her stripes and swirl markings of her fur, and her big, beautiful golden eyes! Marigold had severe trauma to her left hind leg, and the decision was made to amputate. She has adjusted quite well to being a tripod kitty. She has no problem using the litter box, grooming herself, playing, and using both horizontal and vertical scratchers. Marigold doesn’t seem to miss her leg; she just works with what she’s got and is actually quite agile. Nothing will stop this sweet girl from being near her favorite human.
Marigold loves life and loves as she has never been hurt. When she sees you, she greets you with meows and trills. If you stop petting her, she will gently nudge your hand to encourage you to continue loving on her. She has the softest fur ever and loves being pet anywhere, rolling over for tummy rubs and chin scritches, all the while purring loudly. Marigold would do best in a home with someone who is home all day, as she loves having company. Marigold was raised in a home with other cats and 2 gentle dogs and while she has not been exceptionally fond of other cats, she ADORES her foster brother Loki and has truly take him under wing. They had a home lined up together that sadly fell through to no fault of their own. We would be thrilled to find them another home together

Physical Description: Loki is a small black kitten with the occasional white hair.
Personality: Loki may be tiny, but this guy is mighty!! He is in constant motion, a black blur, talking to you the whole time. Loki loves wrestling with our other foster kittens. When he is not wrestling, he is chasing balls around the house with the occasional catnap to re-energize. Loki also does not miss a meal and will remind you that it is time to feed him (even when it is not!). This boy has never met anyone that he doesn’t love immediately and this includes, people, dogs and other cats.
Loki was raised in a home with cats and two gentle dogs. We feel Loki would do best being adopted with another kitten or have another cat in the home.

Beat the heat and come meet your new best friend!
Join us this Saturday, June 20th, from 11am-2pm at the Davis Pet Food Express to meet some of our adoptable pups. It will be the adoption event debut for all the dogs attending, so come give them some love, and maybe fall in love 🩷
So far, it looks like the event will be a dog-only event, but tomorrow we will post an updates if kitties can come.
We can’t wait to see you there!

We are back with another Where Are They Now Wednesday!
This week, we're celebrating Winnie (previously named Brother Bear). Winnie was part of our B-Named Puppies, who came to us from the Yolo County Animal Services Shelter after they were found dumped in a rural part of Yolo County. Winnie was somewhat of an outsider among his siblings and preferred the company of humans rather than other dogs. Well, he lucked out and is now the spoiled only pup in his new home, with a big family who adore him. He loves being the center of attention and definitely has his family wrapped around his little paw. We couldn't be happier for Winnie and his family!
For anyone curious, one of the B-Named Puppies was DNA tested, and the results came back as 49.7% German Shepherd, 23.9% Australian Cattle Dog, and 26.6% Supermutt (this includes small percentages of Miniature Pinscher, Miniature Poodle, Chihuahua, and Maltese). No Dachshund or Corgi like we all assumed!
To support the rescue of pups just like Winnie, donate on our website, yolospca.org/donate. We are also always looking for new foster homes! The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save. Email us at [email protected] to learn how you can become a Yolo County SPCA dog foster.

ADOPTABLE: WREN
Wren: Professional Wrestler, Churu Thief, and Full-Time Menace
Cat's Name: Wren
Cat's Breed: Domestic shorthair
Cat's Color: Wren
Coat Length Medium
Cat S*x: Male
Estimated Birthday 04-11-2026
Okay to live in a home with... Kids, Dogs
& Cats
Physical Description: Wren is a gorgeous black short/medium-haired fluffy kitten with impossibly soft, bunny-like fur and absolutely zero plans to be a quiet, decorative house cat.
Personality: This outgoing little guy is a social butterfly who believes everyone is his friend and every waking moment is an opportunity for play.
Wren's favorite activities include wrestling with his four siblings, zooming around at top speed, investigating things he shouldn't, and committing petty theft involving Churu treats…and sleeping on the very top of the kitten-sized cat tree.
Speaking of Churu: Wren is obsessed. He would happily trade state secrets, family heirlooms, and possibly your car for a tube of Churu. If you leave one unattended, don't be surprised if you find Wren dragging it triumphantly across the room like he just caught a wild gazelle.
Wren is an active, confident kitten who will need a feline playmate. He must be adopted with another kitten or go to a home with a young, playful cat who can keep up with his energy level.
When he's finally worn himself out, Wren is a sweet, affectionate, purring machine who loves attention and being part of the action. If you're looking for a kitten (or two kittens!) who will keep you laughing, keep your resident cat busy, and keep a close eye on your Churu supply, Wren may be your perfect match.
Warning: Adoption of Wren may result in laughter, chaos, missing Churu tubes, and an unusually high level of happiness.

ADOPTABLE: GOLDFINCH
Goldfinch: Velvet Fur, Gentle Purr, and Big Sister Energy
Cat's Name: Goldfinch
Cat's Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Cat's Color: Black
Coat Length Short
Cat S*x: Female
Estimated Birthday 04-11-2026
Okay to live in a home with... Kids, Dogs
& Cats
Physical Description: Goldfinch is a beautiful black short-haired kitten with a coat as soft and smooth as black velvet. As the largest kitten in her litter of five, she carries herself with a quiet confidence and a touch of big-sister wisdom—though she's still very much a playful kitten at heart.
Personality: Sweet, friendly, and affectionate, Goldfinch loves spending time with her siblings. Whether she's chasing toys, wrestling with her brothers and sister, or joining in the latest kitten adventure, she's always happy to be part of the action. She enjoys roughhousing as much as the next kitten, but unlike some of her more enthusiastic siblings, Goldfinch knows exactly where her limits are and isn't afraid to let everyone know when playtime is over.
Goldfinch's relationship with the foster family's pit bull can best be described as polite indifference. While Gracie the dog is fascinated by the kittens, Goldfinch seems largely unaware that a 60-pound dog shares her space. She calmly walks past the dog as if she's invisible and tolerates the occasional slobbery kiss with the quiet resignation of someone accepting an unavoidable inconvenience.
After a busy day of kitten business, Goldfinch is happy to settle down for cuddles, accompanied by a soft, gentle purr that perfectly matches her calm and loving personality, usually from the top of the kitten sized cat treet.
She's the kind of kitten who can keep up with the fun while also bringing a little balance and common sense to the group.
Because kittens thrive with companionship and learn important social skills from one another, Goldfinch must be adopted with another kitten (perhaps one of her siblings?) or into a home with a friendly, playful resident cat. She loves having feline friends and will be happiest in a home where she has a companion to play, nap, and grow up with.

ADOPTABLE: STARLING
Starling: Collector of Springs, Friend to All, and All-Around Good Boy
Cat's Name: Starling
Cat's Breed: Domestic Medium hair
Cat's Color: Black
Coat Length Medium
Cat S*x: Male
Estimated Birthday 04-11-2026
Okay to live in a home with... Kids, Dogs & Cats
Physical Description: Starling is a handsome black medium-haired kitten with a sweet personality and a talent for making friends wherever he goes.
Personality: While Starling is a little more laid-back than his brother Wren, don't mistake that for laziness— Starling still loves to play and can often be found happily entertaining himself with his favorite toys.
His greatest obsession? Those little plastic spring toys. Starling treats every spring he finds like a priceless treasure. He'll proudly scoop one up, carry it around in his mouth, and parade it around as if he's just won an Olympic gold medal. If a spring goes missing, Starling is the prime suspect.
Friendly, outgoing, and affectionate, Starling enjoys being part of the family and is always happy to greet visitors. He gets along wonderfully with other animals, including his foster family's incredibly patient pit bull. In Starling 's mind, the dog is less of a canine companion and more of a furry version of Mount Everest. He happily climbs all over her, uses her as a jungle gym, and occasionally surveys his kingdom from the summit while she patiently tolerates his adventures.
Because kittens learn important social skills from one another and have so much more fun with a companion, Starling must be adopted with another kitten (perhaps one of his four siblings?) or into a home with a friendly, playful resident cat.
Starling has the perfect balance of playful kitten energy and easygoing charm. Whether he's chasing springs, scaling unsuspecting dogs, wrestling with his siblings, or snuggling up after a busy day, he's guaranteed to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of adorable moments to his forever family.
Starling 's life goals:
-Collect every spring toy in the house
-Reach the summit of Dog Mountain
-Make friends with everyone he meets
-Convince you that one more kitten is always a good idea
ADOPT STARLING!
