Too often, children head back to school carrying worn-out backpacks that have been handed down through multiple siblings, missing basic supplies that many of us take for granted. While a box of crayons or a pack of pencils may seem small, to a struggling family, they can make all the difference.

Kevin knows what it feels like to be a child on the street. The hunger that keeps you awake. The cold rain with nowhere to hide. He lived it.

And the moment he was old enough, he went back to save them.

What most people never see — Kevin takes the small salary he earns and pours it right back into the children. Hospital visits. Bandages. Bailing kids out of jail for the crime of begging. There is no off switch. When he is sick, he is still out there. His personal life, his social life, even his dates — they all happen in the middle of a rescue mission, because Kevin simply does not stop.

When we walk through the slums of Kampala, something remarkable happens. The children start singing his name.

They know him. He is the one who always comes.

He shows up with a warm meal, a hug, a laugh, a joke. He is their uncle. He is their father. He is the voice that says — I see you, and you matter.

He is hope.

We have never met a human more completely, more selflessly, more joyfully giving of himself than Kevin.

🌧️ Today, while we are living through one of the hottest summers we can remember, the streets of Kampala are cold, soaked, and unforgiving. These children are battling rain and cold with nothing to protect them.

Today we had dinner at Tacos 4 life, and it was a great reminder that there are always ways to make an impact — even while eating. 🌮❤️

School is in session! This is our little outreach school in the slums of Kampala. All volunteers. No curriculum- other than learning the basics: reading & math. We also serve a small meal. Each child patiently waits for sponsorship - maybe this is the year…but hope stays alive and feed the soul!
