WDAV has accomplished a lot in the last 12 months! From Small Batch concerts, movie nights with the Reel Music Film Series, to fundraising campaigns and record sales, we're glad that you joined us for the ride.
As our fiscal year draws to a close, we're excited for the days ahead. But before we get there, we need to end on a strong note. Finishing the year with a balanced budget is no small feat, considering more than $250,000 was suddenly cut from WDAV when federal funding was rescinded last July.
Although we’ve made great progress toward our annual fundraising goal, there is still work to be done. If you’re in a position to donate and haven’t made a gift in the past 12 months, or you can’t remember the last time you did, this is the time to make a difference. Head to give.wdav.org to make a gift today!
This week on Piedmont Arts, we hear from David McGraw of Piedmont Shakes. Now in it's second year, the company seeks to "to produce free, original productions of Shakespeare’s plays." McGraw tells us how the organization was founded partially to fill a need for professional theatremaking opportunities in North Carolina after the closure of longstanding producing companies in recent years. Learn more about their summer production, Much Ado About Nothing, and why Shakespeare is still important in our current cultural landscape. Listen at bit.ly/PiedmontArts.
How will you celebrate the United States' 250th birthday this year? Host Myelita Melton tells us more about the first documented musical celebration of American Independence, which took place in Salem, North Carolina!
