We have just completed the wallpaper. Just in time with 24 hrs to spare. We have guest checking in this afternoon. We papered the receiving hall with a frieze around the top then the wall fill and the wainscot at the bottom. The ceiling of the grand staircase is papered with a border and a medallion around the lamp. Upstairs in the hall we will finish the crown molding so the gaps you see at the top of the wall will be finished.

Here we go again. Pam has been thinking. We are papering the receiving hall, grand staircase and upstairs hall. It is with Bradbury and Bradbury paper. Really nice to work with. The ceiling over the grand staircase is 24 feet up. The only way to accomplish this was to build a floor to give a platform to work off. Pam has more pictures on her phone that we will get posted

It's finally over. We completed the remodel just days before we had guests. Nothing like just in time.

The first room remodel we are doing is the Mississippi Rose room. This is one of our most popular rooms and we have a lot of guest that have trouble getting in and out of the claw foot tub/shower. We will keep the tub but add a walk-in shower. You may notice that we have also added a heated tile (not in yet) floor. Should be really nice to step out onto a warm floor.

We have completed the ladies parlor. It now has wallpaper, crown molding, and a new light fixture. We were very fortunate to get this 1890s fixture in DesMoines. It is a dual electric and gas light. The room has changed to feel more warm and cozy.

This is one of our first remodel project completed. You may have noticed that over the last 130 years the front steps have moved. We purchased three new limestone steps to replace the deteriorated concrete steps. The original steps were reset and the new steps and cheek plates added.

Each morning we have a guest eagle. He/she is sitting in the tree across the street. What a beautiful bird.
