On May 20, 2026, the Library celebrated its annual 1894 Day. The day was filled with crafts in the Children’s Library and a special treat from Shake Shack. Thank you to everyone who made the day a success and helped us reach our goal!
Today is 1894 Day, our annual day of giving. We'll honor our founding year and celebrate 132 years of learning, connection, and community. This year, our goal is to raise $200,000 in one day. Will you join?

Because of you, 1894 Day was truly extraordinary.
Yesterday, our community came together in a powerful way, showing just how much Darien Library means to so many. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and support made this day one to remember.
Every gift, every message, every moment of participation helped bring us closer to something bigger: Ensuring that Darien Library continues to be a place of learning, connection, and opportunity for all.
From children discovering their love of reading, to neighbors gathering for programs and events, your support makes these experiences possible each and every day.
We are so grateful to have you as part of this community.
Thank you for showing up, for giving, and for believing in what the Library makes possible.
Even if you didn’t have a chance to give on 1894 Day, there’s still time to be part of it, every dollar continues to count toward our goal and makes a meaningful impact.
