July Announcements/Calendar
First, if your family is not on our email system, we are glad you are keeping up with us on Facebook. Any communications emailed out to the community will be also placed on Facebook. Our data syncs are updated through the summer months, and your email should be automatically included in our email distribution list once registration is complete and accurate.
We have been busy with the Daphne schools summer learning programs coming to a close and other summer programs continuing here at the school. The interior of the building is looking better and better as our custodial crew has been fine-tuning cleaning. Teachers are attending trainings and making class preparations, materials and curriculum are being delivered daily, and teachers have been shifting around as Jubilee Elementary is scheduled to open on time. Even though the new districting rezoned many families, we are enrolling new students that are in neighborhoods primarily to the North of the school. Right now, class sizes look great, and we hope that our planning of human resources helps accommodate the “new growth” we are seeing. Remember if you have any questions regarding the area your family is zoned for, please check out the zone locator map found here:
BCBE School Zone Locator
We have worked on a few new projects for the upcoming school year. There will be no classes in the portable buildings this next school year. We hope these six portable classrooms will be removed for the upcoming year to reopen green space for kids outside our gym. Students classrooms, STEM Lab, Project Jubilee, and music will move back into the main building. Part-time instructors that provide intervention to students, school contract positions in library, technology, and behavior supports will all continue thanks to the 3-millage property tax increase in 2022. Capital improvements, such as our new covered snack area along the car line will hopefully arrive before school begins. We will also continue to use funds to support enrichment activities and equipment in math, band, art, student clubs and affiliations, such as Mathletes, NEHS, and Archery.
We are also looking at adding back a few older constructs now that are school size has decreased. We are hoping to reestablish our Veterans Day Programs as the top program in the area. We are also developing night events to reflect some of the opportunities we offered students and families in our opening school years from 2020-2023. One partnership we are bringing back is our relationship with GameDay, meaning that accessibility to school apparel will only be right around the corner from our school again. (There are some nice new designs for this year and I included a picture of this year's leadership shirt). Our theme this year is LEVEL UP YOUR LEADERSHIP and we are developing our individual, classroom, and school attendance incentives to be highlighted daily, weekly, and monthly.
With all of the irons in the fire, it can get overwhelming, and we can lose sight of what really matters, developing KIDS. We do this by serving, inspiring, and shepherding our families that we are fortunate to have with us. This year’s faculty is made up of veteran educators who know how we operate at BFES. The families that are here are families that have been with us since our opening in 2020. The level of caring, communication, and high standards is a win-win-win for kids, families, and our faculty/staff that make up the community of Belforest.
The Parent Checklist is included! We release the Parent Checklist each year at this time, and I will provide any updates if needed. The checklist may be lengthy, but it’s comprehensive and many items may not even apply to your family. I always suggest taking it a step at a time through July and August 10th. The Checklist is a “one-stop shop” with instructions and links that allow you to navigate getting prepared for school. You have 6-7 weeks before the kids’ first day on August 10th. The good news too is there’s nothing you can “mess up” that we can’t fix. We are here to serve. We are hoping the checklist helps all of us get ahead of the rush once we get to Meet the Teacher on August 10th. One item on the checklist is our updated Parent-Student Handbook. The Parent-Student Handbook has been updated to address the many questions about the day-to-day operations of the school. The handbook can be found on our website under the “Parents/Students” tab HERE. There is a lot of good information and procedures in this one document. If you are looking for school procedures, please use this resource.
One other point to note- Our office hours in the summer months are M-TH 7:00-5:00. We are not open on Fridays. We are closed on July 1st-3rd for vacation time around the July 4th holiday. We also have a much smaller crew in the summer, so please leave a message if we are on the other line.
So here we go! Just scroll on down! Don’t choose to let it overwhelm you! Take it step-by-step, and email or call if you need anything. Contacts are throughout the checklist. A PDF version of the Parent Checklist for you to print out for your refrigerator can be found HERE on our website. I also attached the checklist!

The Parent and Student Code of Conduct for Baldwin County Schools can be found here:
BCBE Code of Conduct
Reviewed the link to get to the Belforest School-wide Calendar 26-27 and noted school events on our personal family calendar at home. The BFES Calendar only denotes school-wide events and holidays, not classroom or grade level activities. If you actually click the title of the event on the calendar, it will provide you with specific details for that event! Grade level/classroom specific events, such as field trips, etc. are communicated throughout the year by the teacher. The Belforest School-wide Calendar is here: BFES School-wide Calendar
5. ______ Marked our calendar to find out who our child’s teacher will be. Teachers and staff return on Monday, August 3rd. Therefore, this year all class rosters, K-6th, will be provided to families by Friday, August 7th at 12:00 PM. The class rosters will be placed on our website and a community blast through Parent Square with a link will be sent when they are available. If we are not too overrun, we may get them out earlier that day! If your child’s name is not on a class roster, don’t panic. That means that we may be missing some documentation in the office to complete your child’s registration file. Parents may email us at [email protected] AND [email protected] after the class roster release on Friday, August 7th to see what we may need to do to place your child on a class roster so that you are ready for Meet the Teacher the afternoon/evening of August 10th. We handle these through email in the order we receive them, and we will get back with you as soon as possible.
6. ______ Marked our family calendar for our Meet the Teacher attendance time on Monday, August 10th. Meet the Teacher is for ALL families, K-6th. This is the day, not the 1st day of school, for you to walk your child into the school and meet your teacher. At Meet the Teacher, we ask that families attend based on the first letter of your family’s LAST name. Last names beginning with A-G 3:00; H-P 4:00; Q-Z 5:00. Try to adhere to this schedule. If you cannot attend at the suggested time, you may certainly still come! Doors will open at 3:00. We will remain open until 5:30. Keep in mind the school will CLOSE this day from 12:00-3:00 to allow us to prepare for Meet the Teacher. Meet the Teacher is THE EVENT you do not want to miss. Here you will find out bus information, car rider information, meet the nurse with medical specifics for your child (if needed), learn about in-school and after-school programs, etc. We will also have other after school and community services available, such as daycare programs, scouting, strings program, and a variety of other extra-curricular community programs.
7. ______ Know the plan for the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12TH.
No one is tardy the first two weeks of school, particularly not the first days. We are all trying to adjust to our new school schedules. Car line will operate as normally as possible. We will have MANY school staff hands and BF Connect and Serve volunteers at car line to personally walk your child to their classroom.
If you have a Kindergarten child, your Kindergarten Orientation will be the following day, TUESDAY, AUGUST 11th, at 8:00 AM, giving you two opportunities (Meet the Teacher and Kindergarten Orientation) to meet your child’s teacher and ask questions. At Kindergarten Orientation, your child will be provided with a tag that lets our staff know your child’s teacher and room. We will personally provide walking in assistance/service to ANY child that needs it, but we will have extra eyes and hands on EVERY Kindergartener. If your Kindy has an older sibling, they are more than welcome to walk their little brother or sister to class the first two weeks.
Car line will begin early on the first day, opening at 7:05. (Our routine time to open is 7:15). If arriving by car or by bus, please tell your child to report to their classroom once they enter the building. Again, teachers and staff will line the walkways and hallways to help any child that needs it.
(Car line procedures are addressed in item 11 of this checklist.)
8. ______ Marked our calendar for Parent Orientations. Parent Orientations are for parents. If there is any way you can find childcare, that greatly helps so that you can complete information and really listen to the workings of your child’s classroom. However, if you cannot find childcare, please go ahead and bring your child, as the information is too important for you to miss. Just know this time is really an adult presentation to help orient you to the classroom and answer your questions. Students will meet their teacher during our Meet the Teacher times.

9. ______ Created a MySchoolBucks account by going to www.myschoolbucks.com. If you already have an account, you do not need to create a new one.
MySchoolBucks will be used all year for items such as field trips, birthday ice cream, band/choir dues, and more, so it is very important you get set up. You may prepay for a yearbook & student birthday ice cream packages as early as this Summer. Both options will be open all year so you have the choice to order now or later.
The birthday ice cream package is a birthday treat for the class on or around your child's birthday. These ice creams are a special birthday treat, different than the daily snack ice creams that your child can purchase. You can choose the date the class enjoys the birthday ice cream, which is especially nice if your child's birthday is during the Summer or over a holiday break. For $25, every student in your child's class gets a birthday ice cream on the day you designate. For $35, your child's class gets a birthday ice cream AND your child's name will be put on the digital sign out by 64 for one week. Please note that the sign is updated only on Fridays, so it's important to place birthday orders at least one week ahead of time to assure your child's name can be added in time.
Here are some early options!

Car Line Procedures 26-27 under Car/Bus Rider Procedures.
12. ______ Started thinking about After School Child Care Services (ASCC) at BFES. The ASCC Fall program still has very limited openings for this 26-27 school year. The sign-up reopens for these openings on July 15th at NOON. These spots are extremely limited. They are first-come, first serve. I have no influence or “pull” to help your child get a spot is ASCC. The sign-up can be found HERE If you do not get a spot, I would advise signing up on the waitlist. Sometimes, additional spots do become available. Our very own PJ teacher, Ms. Chyna Brooks, is the ASCC director at our school. She is extremely knowledgeable and can be reached at [email protected] to answer any questions.
The two other largest afterschool care providers in our area are Hot Wheels Skate and Bounds Family YMCA. There are several other smaller daycares that pick up daily after school. At Meet the Teacher on August 10th, we hope to have these day cares, and other area day cares represented in the gym.
13. ______ Began preparing our kids’ clothes and backpacks. Baldwin County Schools have a dress code for students. The BCBE dress code can be found in our Parent-Student Handbook here: BFES Dress Code 26-27 under the heading Dress Code. The elementary dress code is extremely similar to the secondary dress code, but there are some minor changes for elementary that I’d like to point out:
No Crocs. Unlike secondary schools, students are required to have PE and Recess daily, which requires proper footwear, like a tennis shoe. Please pay attention to item “D” under “Shoes.”
Tight fitting bottoms. We have struggled with this in the past. Item “D” under “Pants” reading “Leggings, yoga pants, and other tight fitting, spandex or lycra based pants must be worn with an acceptable top that covers the private areas of the body.” These items may be work, but a top must be long enough to cover the front and back of a child.
Please look closely at the section on “Tops”. It points out requirements, such as no tank tops, spaghetti straps, sleeveless items, etc.
NEW SCHOOL SPITIRT STORE FOR 26-27! Last year many kids did not have an opportunity to have a school spirit shirt. The main reason was accessibility. We wanted to bring back our old Spirit Shop by partnering with GameDay, which is just around the corner from BFES. That means that any shirt ordered can simply be picked up from their shop to avoid any shipping fees! We have new student designs for our BFES shirts, and also a specific design for the 2026-2027 theme, “Level UP Your Leadership!”
Check out these exciting new designs by clicking here: BFES Spirit Shop!
14. ______ EXPLORED ANY UPCOMING SCHOOL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
Welcome to Belforest Connect and Serve! At Belforest Elementary School we always need volunteers with a servant’s heart for special projects. We offer many ways to be involved, such as supervision for duty free luncheons and student events, providing help at book fairs, decorating for events, etc.
We will be posting sign up links to our BFES Connect and Serve page throughout the school year with several opportunities to volunteer. This is an amazing way to support your student, the school and its teachers! “Volunteers don’t necessarily have the time, they have the heart!”
Our volunteer coordinator is Rachael Harris in our office, and she can be reached at [email protected].
The sign-up links can be found on our website here:
BFES Connect and Serve
15. _____ Thought about school lunch and breakfast. Breakfast and lunch will be free to all BCBE students this upcoming 26-27 school year. If you are scheduled to visit and are having a school lunch, there will be a charge for adults or other visitors. If you are sending a lunch from home with your child, please label all lunch boxes and water bottles with your child’s name.
There are no free/reduced lunch forms to complete for the 26-27 school year.
School breakfast/lunch prices for adult visitors have been updated for the new school year, as well as the menus for this year. Menus will be added here : Lunch Menus 26-27 and Pricing for visitors is here under “Breakfast and Lunch” Pricing 26-27
16. _____ Kindergarten and 6th Grade Parents Only: All immunizations, especially those entering Kindergarten and 6th grade, must be up to date to begin the 26-27 school year. Students have been sent home if not current by the first day of school. For more information regarding vaccine requirements or exemptions, please click here:

June Announcements/Calendar
Good afternoon! Well, the 2025-2026 school year is closed, and it was a bittersweet ending. Although the kids were happy to see the summer begin, there were many tears as our students and faculty left the building. For the next school year, we will shrink from approximately 1200 to 750 students. Most of these kids will be attending the new Jubilee Elementary School. Our faculty lost 18 positions, and almost all have found new school families across our district.
When we opened 6 years ago in 2020, we knew that we would grow quickly. We doubled in size within those 6 years, and I am sure we will see continued growth as more homes are being built primarily to the North of us. Each year has different challenges, and this will be a year of needed change which will benefit the entire feeder pattern.
Our summer hours beginning next week, the week of June 1st, will be Monday-Thursday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm. We generally close the week around the 4th of July for a breath before the big push to reopen at full throttle.
The theme selected for our 26-27 school year will be:
LEVEL UP YOUR LEADERSHIP!
You will notice the theme throughout our school environment as your kids are challenged through the year in new and creative ways.
Just before July arrives, you will receive “The Parent Checklist.” This will be a comprehensive list you can use through the months of July/August to prepare your family for the opening of school. This year’s checklist will have the usual directions regarding transportation, registration, etc. and a few new updates and directions.
The district will have data and summer updates. Please encourage neighbors who may be new to “Like Us” on Facebook so they can see the updates as we get them plugged in to our mass email systems.
If I were you, I would take the month of June “off” regarding thinking about the next school year and simply wait for the Parent Checklist. The Parent Checklist will be your comprehensive guide and should answer almost all questions.
There are just a couple of things you can do now to prepare for next year , but not absolutely necessary.
1. Registration/Items in the Office- We have several items in the office that you may stop by and pick up. We have many students’ personal belongings, as well as important items such as children’s report cards.

A. Visit our website on or after JUNE 1st. Go to https://bcbe.schoolmint.com/
B. Create your account or simply log in to your existing account.
Returning Student Registration:
Once you have logged into your account, you will complete the 2026-2027 returning student registration.
New Parent Portal Feature: In mid-June, the county will be launching a new tool allowing parents/guardians with custody to manage and update contacts directly in the parent portal.
Want to check your student's current information? You can always access your child's details through the PowerSchool Parent Portal by visiting https://baldwinco.powerschool.com/
Have questions or need more information?
We've put together a helpful FAQ page with the latest registration updates. You can find it at https://www.bcbe.org/registration. We appreciate your cooperation in getting registered for another great school year! If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 251-607-5624.
