🧘♀️ We thought we would start the week with a reminder of just how important your breath is.
You’ve probably heard your instructor say ‘breathe laterally’ or ‘engage your core on the exhale’ and maybe thought, ‘Isn’t breathing just... breathing?’
Here’s the thing: the way you breathe in Pilates is a tool, not a rule. When you learn to breathe into your rib cage, you’re actually activating your deep core muscles AND signaling your nervous system to calm down. It’s not about perfection, it’s about unlocking strength, calm and efficiency at the same time. That’s why your instructor won’t stop talking about it.
If you’re new to Pilates, this might feel weird at first. That’s normal. The ‘aha moment’ usually hits around week 3 or 4, when your body suddenly gets what the breath is doing.
