This afternoon just after 1 PM Jefferson County Rescue Squad was dispatched to the Leadville area of Douglas Lake for a possible drowning. Approximately one and a half hours later, a body was located with a ROV from TWRA and side scan sonar. A member of our dive team made the recovery and TWRA is investigating the incident.
We would like to thank Cocke County swift water rescue team for their assistance in the recovery process and remind everyone to please wear a life jacket anytime you are on the water.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of John David Holland this morning as we learn of his passing. John David spent several years as a public servant in Jefferson County, including being a lifetime member of our organization. He will be greatly missed.

Recently some of our members were able to attend Rescue Squad Day on the hill at the Capitol in Nashville.
They had the opportunity to speak with the governor our senators and representatives about issues and legislation affecting emergency services across the state.
Thank you to those that where able to go to Nashville.

You might as well turn this sucker off!
all the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.
This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the VFD in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.
We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?
