Today OC Lifeguard Supervisors Ryan and Christian got the opportunity to participate in Career day at elementary school!
Students learned all about ocean safety, beach hazards, and what it takes to be an ocean lifeguard. It’s always great to see the next generation getting excited about staying safe at the beach.
Parents — if you’re looking for a fun and educational way to keep your kids active this summer, consider enrolling them in OC Junior Guards. It’s a great opportunity for them to build confidence, learn lifesaving skills, and gain ocean awareness. Sign-ups are available now at the link in bio!

Although we’ve had summer-like conditions for weeks, today marks the first day of spring 🌊☀️
Beaches are getting busy and spring break is upon us — here are a few things to remember before heading out:
• Know your limits
• Spring sandbars are different than summer — expect changing conditions
• Stay clear of rip currents
• Swim in front of an open lifeguard tower
• Talk to a lifeguard before you get in
Have fun, stay safe, and we’ll see you at the beach 🤙

The recent medical emergency at Dana Point, where a man survived cardiac arrest thanks to quick-thinking bystanders and trained professionals, is a powerful reminder of why preparation matters. At OCLG, all of our lifeguards supervisors are certified EMTs and equipped with AEDs and emergency oxygen, ready to respond when every second counts. This incident shows just how critical it is to learn CPR because sometimes, the people nearby are the only chance someone has. Whether you’re a professional responder or just someone who wants to be ready, CPR training can truly save lives.

We’re preparing for a busy Labor Day weekend at our beaches! Hot weather and pumping surf are in the forecast — great for enjoying the sand and sun, but also a reminder to stay safe near the water.
Before you hit the water, please remember:
👮♂️ Check in with the lifeguard — they know current conditions, can point out any hazards, and where to swim.
🌊 Know your limits — strong surf and rip currents can surprise even experienced swimmers.
🚩 Heed the flags — conditions flags are there for your safety. Don’t ignore them.
🧴 Stay hydrated & wear sunscreen.
🕶️ Watch your kids closely — always keep an eye on little ones near the water.
🚫 No alcohol.
Let’s make it a safe and fun weekend! See you at the beach! 🌞🌴

We’re proud to recognize Ryan Broadhead as our 2025 Employee of the Year!
With five years of dedicated service, Ryan consistently goes above and beyond in his role as a year-round Division Supervisor. He plays a vital role in cadet training and is an essential member of both our Dive Team and Rescue Watercraft (RWC) Team.
Beyond his commitment to beach safety, Ryan is an accomplished athlete — an All-American USA Triathlete and Ironman All World Athlete — who proudly represents OC Lifeguards at the USLA National Championships.
Thank you, Ryan, for your outstanding commitment, leadership, and passion. We’re fortunate to have you on the team!
