A fight to maximize beach access at Strands Beach in Dana Point, CA to 5 p.m. during winter months and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer.
When the Headlands development project at Strands Beach was approved by the California Coastal Commission, the City of Dana Point and Sanford Edward, the project developer, agreed to provide “maximum” access to Strands beach via access ways on the north, central and south ends of the development. No gates at Strands center and mid access. Strandsgate is nearly over, next question is who is going to pay for all the legal fees. CCC calls the shots.

No beach. We fought the revetment and lost. And the developer got exactly what he aimed for. No beach for the beach front lots and essentially no beach goers. EXCEPT, the cobbles are getting catapulted by the waves into the lots and encroaching.

Ssshhh… Don't tell anybody that the center Strands access is now Open.
The Mid-Strands Gate is now open without restriction. A sharpie sign is on the gate. So the public is NOT restricted by the recent council vote for one hour prior to sun up and one hour after sun set locked gates. Stay tuned. Fines are the elephant in the room.
